That's what I'm going to be watching next...
-
Finally getting around to the season premier of Lost.
-
IIRC, the cause was the same, but it was '99 instead of '05. Looking forward to seeing a new episode tonight.

I'm a Patriots fan, and I watched it with a good friend of mine who's been a Giants fan for life. Both of us thought the game was complete shit. The only dominant unit was the Giants D-line. Other than that, there wasn't much to speak of. No offense until the final 2 drives, then neither D could stop anything. How is that a good game? As for rivalries, fans getting bent out of shape one way or another, or any of the other drama? People need to grow up... It's a bunch of grown men playing a children's game. Is it entertaining? Yes. Do I understand why it causes grown fans to act like children, either as poor losers or poor winners? Nope, not at all.

Happy Birthday Dave!

My favorite part of that page? D'oh!

I had to do laundry, so I'll download Lost tomorrow

You guys are hard to please! I think it's been consistently entertaining, regardless of how many questions are answered. And I liked their 3-year plan they have in place to wrap things up, even if it may be screwed up by the strike. I'm certainly not one to put in a lot of effort figuring things out... What can I say, I'm easily amused and enjoy being along for the ride.

Happy Birthday indeed!

Oh, I'm not arguing with you. The smackdown was warranted. Well played!!!

I just read Reks laying a smackdown here.

I don't know... I liked the fact that options were limited with the LB. The idea of tube rolling has no appeal to me. The LB is an inexpensive amp that sounds much, much better than it has any business sounding, but in the end, it is what it is and probably isn't worth searching beyond the drop-ins. IMO, of course. I thought the volume pot was a much bigger issue, with poor tracking. But I'm guessing that has more to do with the fact there's a lot crammed into not alot of real estate.

I hoped that ignoring them would make them go away Yes, but don't forget... We've met, so don't hold your breath Sorry, but no. Kitty 1 and Kitty 2 are very demanding of my time. It just wouldn't be fair And thanks everyone... Needless to say, I love my place. But it's always nice to hear the feedback from everyone.

There's a great program (AlbumArtAggregator) that will scour different Amazons (.com, .co.uk, .co.jp, .de) and downloads it to your folder. I hadn't saved any album art at all and when I switched to Rockbox on my iPod I went through and got album art for over 1000 albums. It doesn't always get it right, but it's a good first pass and then you can fill in gaps or correct any mistakes. -
I've been working my way back through the Arkady Renko novels by Martin Cruz Smith the last couple of weeks... Already read: Gorky Park, Polar Star Currently reading: Red Square Next up: Havana Bay, Wolves Eat Dogs, Stalin's Ghost

Thanks everyone. It's definitely nice to have a place that can easily accommodate a bunch of people... And being able to set the rigs up on the platforms and then just spin the couches around worked out very well. Zoe takes to much pleasure in slicing up my hands and arms to end it all! I think she was just supervising, and making sure none of the ruffians packed up any of my gears in their boxes!

I'm still partial to my woodied HF-1. The new RS-1 was very impressive. But flats still strike me as slightly congested, and bowls end up skewing the presentation a little too far to the high end. There's definitely better resolution, with improved bass and treble detail. But the trade-off isn't worth it to my ears... I just love the overall sound signature of my HF-1 with bowls. The 225s definitley were nice, and my MS-1s were a pleasant surprise. With the comfies, the MS-1s strike me as pretty well balanced, though they do lack a little resolution at both ends of the sprectrum. This was also the first chance I had to listen to them after putting the wood cups on them. My new leather headband for my HF-1 arrived as well, so the MS-1s now have a 325i leather headband. Overkill? Yup, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Thanks guys... Quick impressions: Pico Because I knew I was buying my new place, I made a big effort to avoid the Pico at the last Boston and NYC meets. Nate had already let me know that it was damn impressive, and as much as I wanted to check it out, I didn't want to test my (lack of) will power. Well, after getting it hooked up to my HTPC, I couldn't avoid it any more. I don't want to spout of hyperbole, so I'll summarize it as follows: I could live with this as my only rig. It drove Senns and Grados equally well. Detail, soundstage, PRaT, impact, texture, instrument separation, all top notch. Wow. Just... Wow! And to top it all off, the size and overall presentation is just stunning. Rockhopper 3-channel Beta22 I had listened to Nate's 3-channel Beta before, so I knew what to expect. This is an amp that is still on my list of DIY projects, and will definitely build one at some point. This thing handled everything we threw at it... HD-650, RS-1, HF-1, K-1000... And everything sounded great. It just has an effortless presentation, where you don't ever think you're making it work. Rockhopper KGSS / Sennheiser HE-60 This was another combo I had had intentially avoided, but Dave lugged it all the way up here so listening was the least I could do! Well, thankfully this is well out of my price range because this could be real trouble. The only thing I found it lacking in was impact. But the resolution it had, as well as amazing treble detail with no harshness, was to die for. The only thing that surprised me at all was that they were a little more forward than I expected. They weren't bright at all, but the upper mids were more prominant than I would have expected. I'll let Dave get into the details on the KGSS, but my understanding is that it was Stephen's personal amp which he ended up selling to Dave. That's probably why nobody's seen a RH KGSS before. New buttonless RS-1 These were a pleasant surprise. I don't know what changes may have been made, but they are definitely a different beast than the last non-vintage RS-1s I tried. They sounded good with both bowls and flats, and didn't have any of the brightness or grating sound that always jumped right out at me with RS-1s previously. I don't think I liked them as much as the non-serial number, brown headband ones I heard at the NYC meet, but they are definitely a headphone I could see myself owning if anything were to happen to my HF-1s. K-1000 Time for yet another product I had made every effort to avoid... These sounded great. My listening with these was limited to acoustic music where it sounded well-balanced with a great presentation. I didn't get around to listening to them with anything that would've tested their low end. But the Beta22 drove them very well, and I can see why people seek them out. Woodied 225 I had heard these before Nate modded them, and they already sounded worlds better than any 225 I had listened to. I don't know if it was just product variation, the squished bowls, or what, but they sounded great in stock form. But as is usually the case with the woody mods, the increase in chamber depth seems to do a nice job letting them open up a bit. Highs seemed a little smoother and bass extension seemed improved. Whenever people have recommended 225s in the past, I always wondered why... They had never done anything for me. But these strike me as 90-95% of the HF-1 for a lot less money. I'm sure as others post impressions I'll remember things I forgot, but I'd have to say the meet was great success. Good music, good gear, good people and my cats didn't damage anyone's stuff! Big thanks to Nate, Haj and Dave for making the trip in less-than-ideal weather.
-
The meet's still in progress, so no real impressions to speak of. I just figured I'd check in. I'm hosting, and there's a lot to be said for not having to break down and set up my rig somewhere else! The group here is myself, Vince (n_maher), Dave (drp) and Haj (Salt Peanuts). I'm sure we'll get to the equipment present, impressions and pics later. For now? Back to listening!

IIRC, the 2910 is a considered a step down from the 2900... It's a misleading model number because they recofigured their line and the 2900 is more in line with the 3910 than the 2910. I was very unimpressed with the 2910 for redbook. Blah!

Manning '04 336/497 (67.6%), 4557 yards, 49 TD (9.9%), 10 INT (2.0%) 9.2 yards per attempt, 13.6 yards per completion, 284.8 yards per game Passer Rating 121.1 Brady '07 398/578 (68.9%), 4806 yards, 50 TD (8.7%), 8 INT (1.4 %) 8.3 yards per attempt, 12.1 yards per completion, 300.4 yards per game Passer Rating 117.2 I'd say that it's very easy to argue the fact. The 'ridiculous' passer rating Manning put up isn't that much beyond what Brady did this year. And if you need further proof how fucked up the passer rating stat is, look at those numbers. Brady bested Manning in completion percentage, yards, more touchdowns (though at a lower rate than Manning), fewer interceptions, and more yards per game. Manning has a slight edge in yards per attempt and yards per completion. Rumor has it that Football Outsiders is going to be doing a weather adjustment tot he DVOA statistics which could be very interesting for comparing teams playing in different conditions.

Nice Best hour of TV. Ever! As a stand-alone episode, it's great. But it did soooooo much for the season as well.

Wow. Drug overdose, huh? If it's a suicide, it's extremely shitty. His poor daughter will have to grow up seeing him on TV and DVD.
