I had forgotten how huge Yelena Isinbayeva's (then) world record, olympic gold winning [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A75lx_7QI4g]4.91m jump[/ame] was... Damn!

Never could get into this or An Instance of the Fingerpost, but I enjoyed Iain Pears art mysteries so I figured I'd give this another go. So far, so good, though I've abandoned An Instance of the Fingerpost completely after multiple efforts...

Well, some of that was to be expected. Brian Fuller left the show after 5 episodes were produced, for reasons including the studio fighting creatively, budget issues and being forced to replace Rebecca Gayheart. Not only did they change some things about where the show was headed, but directly contradicted others. I still like S02 because it's a neat little world he created, and the characters are great, but it's a shame he wasn't able to stay involved because I think the show would've been better for it. Wonderfalls is one of my favorite shows. Ever. It's another Brian Fuller show (Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies) that was cancelled by Fox (what a suprise!) after 2 or 3 episodes aired. But they were able to wrap up the story in 13 episodes which are available on DVD. Wonderfalls FTW!!!1one Re: Battlestar Galactica, I enjoed many aspects of S01, but episodes that concentrated on politics were a real struggle for me to get through. At times I find their inclusion of religion clunky and awkward comared with the execution of the rest of the show's elements. That said, the cast is great, and it's an intriguing story. Firefly is another Fox-cancelled show that was just great and never got a chance.

While I agree that they aren't a bargain at retail, I also appreciate the product. I have a TNF jacket I bought my freshman year in HS that I beat the hell out of and it still looks great. All of my TNF stuff has held up remarkably well, and I only have bought new stuff because a) I'm not the skinny kid I was through college and I like having lots of jackets. I do think their low-end stuff is definitely way overpriced... It doesn't hold up well at all. But their higher-end gear, including their TNFx line a few years ago, the Summit Series, Flight Series, Apex jackets and the Steep Tech line all wears like nails. No torn velcro, no lost buttons, no ruined zippers, no loose stitching. Between getting beaten with gates when I raced, branches in the glades, metal edges during particularly violent crashes, or scraping across ice or occasionally rocks when hitting bare spots... None has done more than leave a passing mark. Oh yeah... Freedom Pants, Retail $130, priced at $76, and then marked down another 30% = $54 Sentinal Summit Series soft shell, Retail $230, priced at $170, and then marked down another 30% = $120 Himalayan down mittens (800 wgt goose down), Retail $130, priced at $92 and marked down another 50% = $46 Plus, for spending > $150, I got a 2 for 1 ticket at Sugarloaf.

With my big yearly ski trip coming, I made a trip up to the North Face outlet in Freeport. New ski pants, jacket, mittens and hat between 30 and 50 % off already discounted prices. Man, I love that place.

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on the DA-500. I've been very happy with it considering the price they go for (when you can find them).

Wow. I've got Anthem Blue Cross and I'm paying around $150 a month for just me, and I'm pretty sure my deductible is > $1200... More like $2000. I know a friend of mine who is a healthy single woman of child-bearing years will have to pay almost $300 to continue the same or worse coverage through Anthem. We were just talking about it because her office is closing and she's trying to figure out is she can swing COBRA for continuing her health care coverage on her savings on top of everything else while looking for a new job.

Where? http://nh.craigslist.org/search/apa?query=portsmouth&minAsk=min&maxAsk=max&bedrooms=3 Only 2 under $1000 on the first page are 30 minutes away.

Portsmouth, NH? A quick search on craigslist finds 1BR from $650-$1100, 2BR from $900-$1300 and 3BR from $1250-$1600 for places within 20 minutes of Portsmouth. I was paying $750 for a 650 sq. ft. 1BR with heat, hot water and electric adding another $100.

I can't speak for Nate, but that's on the short list of things to get me to watch more of that wretched, wretched show...

It killed me to not buy the $300 set Sunday night, but it's not a good time for stuff like that for me right now.

Well, I'm going to hold off on writing impressions until I have a chance to sit down with this again. All I can say is that in 2+ hours I was never bored and there were definitely more than a few stand-out tracks that really caught my attention. Finding them again may take a few more listens, though. Nothing grabbed me immediately like "Leaving Hope" from Still, but it's a lot to take in, and I'm looking forward to spending more time with it.

I don't think it's DualDisc... You get the 2-CD version & a BluRay disc.

Oh yeah, update...
-
Well, 3 tracks in and I'm definitely not disappointed...

Happy Birthday Nate!

An entire instrumental release from NIN? Well, Trent definitely has my attention. His work on Still was amazing. Anyone else checking this out? Seems like he's embracing be free of a major label. 5 options, ranging from a free download of I to a $300 signed deluxe set of I-IV, including vinyl. I tried to order it from nin.com but it was too slow... I couldn't get through. I'll be ordering the CDs tomorrow, which is scheduled to ship April 8th. But I decided I'd go ahead and order the 256kbps .mp3 version from Amazon for $5 to hold me over. I've set up the download so it should be all set for me in the morning. I'll be sure to post impressions once I've had a chance to give it a listen. And while I know that this will be floating around for free soon, I like what he's doing and am happy to spend the money to show my support for it.
