  1. Great! For a dog who was classified as semi-housetrained, whatever that means, she's adapted very well. She looooooves her crate, and has been hanging out there with the door open most of the time. Only problem is I think I adopted the laziest dog ever! She has to be dragged out of her crate to go outside! But once she's out, she's great. She loves to trot along on our walks. Yesterday she and I met a friend for coffee in Market Square in Portsmouth. It's a busy place with lots of dogs and people, and she was totally relaxed. She couldn't care less about the other dogs, and all the other dogs all but ignored her while we sat and drank our coffees. Then we took a walk down to the local dog park, met a couple of other greyhounds and got used to being out and about. The best was when she walked across this bridge for the first time on our walk last night. She was very interested in the water! It was prety funny. But yeah, she seems like she's going to be a great dog. She's very sweet, a little stubborn and very, very quiet.
  2. I have two cats, too! But thanks. Experiences like that was all I kept hearing about, so it seemed like a good option. I did a little reading in her file and it appears she's an honorary member of the Florida crew! She was a racer at a track down there before she retired. And I'm guessing anyone who frequents the WAYLTN? thread (or recognizes my avatar) won't be surprised by her name... Neko!
  3. So far, best $180 I've ever spent!
  4. Retired Racing Greyhound. And in my experience, dogs tend to be the ones who drool, and they both RULE!
  5. My stimulus check was direct-deposited this morning! And it will be all but gone by the end of the day... Last nigh I picked up: XL (48"x30"x33") Crate XL Dog Bed For Crate (2) Stainless Steel Bowls Collar & Leash Assorted Dog Toys Other stuff I can't quite think of right now, all totalling more than $270. This afternoon I'll be paying the $180 adoption fee. Man, 3 PM can't come fast enough!
  6. I really can't wait. I'm very excited, but very nervous as well. I haven't had a dog since HS, and it's a lot of responsibility. But I'm confident things will go very well. 3:00 tomorrow afternoon can't come soon enough!
  7. Definitely real pics tomorrow. For now all I have is a horrible pic from the website... She's 3, and a retired racing greyhound. She's very shy, but very sweet and even after only an hour with her at the SPCA and she was starting to open up a bit.
  8. Met my new dog! I pick her up after work tomorrow! Can't wait! ;D ;D
  9. My head's big, but not that big. The K340 fit fine, even with new elastics. But the 5/6/701 all have the ear pads pushing up on the bottom of my ears with the headband elastics stretched all the way out. So maybe it's not a big head as much as low-riding ears. Regardless, if they're made the same as the 701, they're unwearable for me. The replacable cable is pretty cool, though.
  10. Bet they still won't fit my head!
  11. You think I'm complaining? I just DL'd this today and will be watching it tonight.
  12. At least you found out before things got really bad. We lost a number of drawings... Autocad + Vista = corrupted files with no hope of recovery.
  13. I <3 strike through!
  14. I would have to agree. Priest has never done anything for me at all. Maiden, on the other hand...
  15. Arrived when I was out of town... Moonsorrow - Tulimyrsky EP Can't go wrong with Moonsorrow!
  16. Could he ever?
  17. Nice to know I was missed I saw them! What did you think of the musics?
  18. Todd... It seems as though a lot of newcomers aren't finding older threads because of the forum default of showing posts from the last month only. Can the forum default be set to show threads from the beginning? Might make browsing/lurking/learning easier for newcomers to find.
  19. Been out of town since Tuesday... So I'll post the update. My week @ the NCAA Outdoor T&F Championships Tuesday - Flew out of Logan through Minneaopolis/St Paul to Des Moines. Went to the track, got checked in, took our athlete through pre-meet. Drove into downtown Des Moines and was pretty blown away by the flooding. Went back to the high and dry safety of West Des Moines and called it a night. Wednesday - Lazy morning. Great brunch @ the Drake Diner. Headed over to the track later in the day for the women's pole vault prelims. Warm-ups went poorly for our athlete, the competition went as poorly. Not practicing for 3 weeks while on an island for a summer field ornithology class caught up with her. But she still had a great season, improving by almost 2 feet since this time last year. And now my summer officially begins! Thursday -Another great day... A friend from school, originally from Iowa but currently living in AZ, was back visiting her folks. So she, her mom and her three daughters made the trip to Des Moines for lunch. Sooooooo much fun. And because we had to plan on being in town for the vault finals, I was in Des Moines through Saturday. So after lunch it was back to the track. Some pretty amazing performances. Friday - Another lazy morning, followed by a trip to UPS Freight to ship the vaulting poles back to UNH. Once we got out of the city, the flooding was very aparant. Tough times ahead for a good portion of Iowa. Even I-80 was closed east of Des Moines, and was within a foot or two of the edge of pavement just north of the city. Then back to the track for another great afternoon/evening of competition. Men's and women's vault finals were going on, and it was pretty fun to just sit back and watch the events with no pressure or stress. Saturday - Up early, and a long day of travelling back to NH... Des Moines through Memphis back to Logan. Back around 8:30. And today, recovering. I tried to do some work while in IA, and definitely didn't get as much done as I hoped. That trend continued today with a very lazy morning. Went to the local coffee shop, got my large 4-shot/half-shot of peppermint mocha, finished the book I started at the airport yesterday. Currently trying to get motivated to get some work done this aftenroon. All while trying to get used to the new forum layout!
  20. This was my favorite feature of the Simple Machines forum, and I hope there is a way to implement this with the vBulletin software. I too like to be able to keep track of what is actually read versus what has been changed since my last visit.
  21. Wow... It's just crazy to see that typed out! Congratulations. I can't wait to meet her!
  22. Hearing The Eagles is like getting into a time machine for me... Hanging out with my dad when I was little, when he'd be working on projects around the house.
  23. I grew up with my dad listening to two bands a ton. One (The Eagles) I still love hearing to this day. The other (The Beatles) still leaves me cold.
  24. I've heard whole albums. I can appreciate what they did and how and when they did it... I just can't listen to them. Which is why I don't listen to much of today's pop music either
  25. Beatallica FTW!
