  1. I know, right? What more could I have asked for?
  2. Thanks again everyone. A great day all around.
  3. Thanks all. Still recovering from the hike with my folks yesterday. Not going to work today, I have a bunch of cake and there should be (at least some) pole vault finals coverage on NBC's prime time show. So it should be a good day!
  4. 10 mile hike on the Kinsman Ridge Trail section of the Appalacian Trial. I hiked with my parents from Kinsman Notch to Mount Wolf, then down Reel Brook Trail back to my cabin. 6 hours, an obscene total change in elevation and my ass is sufficiently kicked
  5. I'd say it had more charm, but less humor. I enjoy it, though, and am looking forward to the new season starting.
  6. Well, if you enjoyed Wonderfalls and haven't seen Dead Like Me, it's a great, if slightly morbid story. It's the same creator, and he also is currently doing Pushing Daisies on ABC. IMO season 1 of Dead Like Me is better than 2, but it's still a very entertaining show. And George is an awesome character. She has some priceless moments in the premier episode.
  7. Uh oh, I think we're going to get a post from a newly registered user...
  8. I bought the entire Maxx show from a shady eBay seller a few years back. It was such a trip to go back and watch the episodes. VHS transferred to DVD didn't look the best, but I definitely enjoyed the hell out of it.
  9. Well, Sarfl'ack'tack-AIEEEE was defintiely not bored for about 45 minutes this morning. (Un)fortunately he/she/it may have been slightly damaged to his visit to the seacoast. I can take no responsiblity if the cats made contact or if I may have closed one of its wings in a window in a (failed) attempt to trap it. You may want to make an insurance claim regarding any damage in transit. I would be happy to meet with an inspector at his or her convinience.
  10. Considering I was up from 2 am 'til 4:30 am or so, it wasn't so funny when the alarm went off this morning
  11. Ugh, got woken up @ 2 AM by both cats going bonkers. I was worried something f'd up may have been going on, so I went down from my loft and low and behold a bat had gotten in. You can imagine how much fun it was to get that out. The 16' ceiling meant I couldn't get near it and the small-ish windows being set back in dormers meant it was having trouble finding its way out. I finally got the cats locked in the bathroom and then was able to leave the door open and it eventually found its way out that way. Or at least I hope it did... I'd imagine the cats will let me know if it didn't! But now I need to settle back down so I can go back to sleep...
  12. I don't, but I find that surprising. I've been running mine for a while now and the fact that it's fairly balanced, to my ears at least, is why I like it so much. While it may not be amazing at anything, it's never had any real glaring faults, either.

    Heroes

So, as I sit here watching the Olympics and see ad after ad for the new season of Heroes, I'm left wondering if I could have less interest in picking the show back up again. I'm sure there's a way, but I'm not sure how. It recently occured to me that I don't think the creators knew how much they had married themselves to the whole comic book paintings as a striking visual device. Even as season 1 deteriorated, the paintings helped tie things together and that foreshadowing kept me interested. Maybe it was used as a crutch, but considering the direction taken once that aspect was written out, it may have been a crutch that was needed. Badly. Lost is a perfect example of a show that managed to move on from its own quirky plot device (flash-backs). Heroes? Not so much. Chuck and The Office, on the other hand, can't start back up soon enough!
  14. Jokes are usually funny, right? Saying something dumb, throwing a smilie at the end or tacking on an LOL does not make something funny. If it's not funny, it's not a joke. Or at least nothing more than a piss-poor attempt at one. Edit: LOL!
  15. Happy Birthday Tyll!
  16. Excellent... Glad you're enjoying it. I think it's great! As for Weeds, IMO it's still better than most of what's on these days, especially now that summer's here and there's nothing on. Is it uneven? Yes. Is Nancy a horrible mother and/or person. At times. But I still enjoy it. And Jacob, this season has made some pretty big improvements since the first few episodes. You might want to give it another shot. Though I'm a big fan of Julie Bowen, whose role is growing. So I may be biased!
  17. As a track coach, this is the one time every four years when I actually get to see the sport I love, the pole vault, getting some air time. And in honor of the olympics I've updated my sig! Yes, I Yelena Isinbayeva! She'll definitely be the first woman to vault 5.20 m (17'-0").

  19. Skating & surfing were big for me in MS/HS, so the usual suspects apply... Independent, Jimmy'z, O'Neill, Quicksilver, Powell Peralta

    RS1's?

If it makes any difference, I adore the vintage RS-1s (brown headband, no SN, gold lettering) and absolutely hate the later RS-1s with the button, flats or bowls. Unlistenable in any setup I've tried, from my mid-fi (at best) to the best setup at any given meet. Why do I say this? Because I was very, very pleasantly surprised by the latest button-less incarnation of the RS-1. Haj brought his (now gone) pair over to my place for a mini-meet with Nate and Dave and I spent quite a bit of time with them. They sounded great with bowls and flats with Haj's Beta, my Millett Hybrid and even my PPA v2. They were definitely brighter than my woodied HF-1s, but not uncomfortably so. They had great detail, with better bass speed, but I preferred the warmer presentation, fuller midrage and better bass impact of my HF-1 at the expense of some of the detail and technical ability shown in the RS-1. And while the latest RS-1 doesn't seem to have the magic of the vintage pairs I've heard, they're far closer to that sound than that of the later buttoned ones.
  21. Up @ 6... Walked & fed the pup. Got my 4-shot mocha & and cinnamon roll. On the road by 8:30... Met a friend & drove up to my cabin. 2 hrs. Ugh. Spent 2 hours dealing with the pup's separation anxiety when we tried to go out mountain biking. Finally got a good ride in, only to find tooth and claw damage to the window sash and trim. Oh well! Drove home,2 hrs again (still ugh), got some good ground sirloin and getting ready to cook dinner... If I can stay awake. I'm exhausted!
  22. Um, as for a notebook, I'd buy a refurb ThinkPad T40 for less than 1/3 the price of a new MacBook. Oh wait, that's what I did.
  23. Awesome. As for an adapter, I'd order directly from Lenovo. So many of the aftermarket stuff is crap that there's a good chance you'd just be throwing your money away on it.
