We missed her last time around. I'll have to see what we can do to make the January show in Boston. Thanks, I missed that she was coming back around.

Emma Ruth Rundle - On Dark Horses Moody/Haunting Atmosphere? Check. Female Vocals? Check. Unspurprisingly, Ian-Approved.

Thanks. Starting to feel like I have some mental bandwidth again, even if the kid still won't sleep.

I'd been waiting for this to come out for a while now, and it came out yesterday. Obsessed... Kælan Mikla - Nótt eftir nótt I know, recency bias and all that, but probably the front-runner for my favorite album of the year.

Thanks everyone. Vacation week for Penelope's and my birthday. Well, more of a stay-cation, but it's been good to be busy and off-line more than usual.
-
Thanks for the recommendation. This is great.

Installed a Nest E. I had to relocate where the wire came out of the wall, patch/clean up the drywall and paint before it could go in. That said, it was a very easy install. I definitely prefer the clean look to the original Nest... It fits in well with the white in-wall speakers and wood work and is more subtle/less techy looking.

Lots of Chelsea Wolfe here too lately. And Zola Jesus... Okovi is stunning and has been in heavy rotation.

Our snowblower has been down since late last winter. Should've gotten it fixed, but never got to it. Also been meaning to talk to our neighbor who plows, to see if he'd take us on. Hadn't gotten to that either. Feel like poo and wasn't looking forward to shoveling. Well, while finishing bed time with Penelope, I hear a bunch of noise and look out and said neighbor is taking care of about 60% of my driveway for me. Lucked out... Bigly.

Just finished Mira Grant's Into the Drowning Deep. Great full-length follow up to her Rolling in the Deep short story. I don't think it will disappoint anyone who's read her previous work, though I wouldn't suggest reading it without reading the short story first. Not sure what's next... None of the books queued up on my Kindle are jumping out to me.

Happy belated!

Thanks everyone. Sorry I haven't been around much. Between Penelope never stopping moving and the arrival of Piper in June, it's been a crazy few months. I hope everyone is doing well!!! Oh, and Steve... That was actually my cake last year from the surprise party Lauren threw for me!

Thanks everyone. I had a great 40th yesterday, and Penelope turned 3 today. So it was a fun couple of days.

In order to take the weight of the plasma, we mounted a sheet of plywood behind the ship lap screwed to the studs. Before we did that, we punched a few holes in the wall to find the studs, drilled some holes for the wires and fished everything through. The stereo is in the base of the built-in on the other side of the wall, in the dining room, which works out well since I can access everything fun the back. All the wiring terminates there, and it looks like a repurposed wood box. I have to say, it's great having everything tucked away and hidden.

Finally wrapped up the faux fireplace and in-wall speaker install. Catastrophic failure of a section of the lathe and plaster when cutting the hole for the right speaker left me needing a patch. Finally got it taped and mudded last weekend, and picked up some paint tonight and was able to get it painted and install the speaker grilles. A reminder of where I started... In progress... For the last 3 months. And all but complete!

Thoroughly enjoyed Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Started watching Catastrophe on Amazon the other night and we ended up watching all 6 episodes of Season 1. Hilarious. Kind of like You're the Worst, but they're not quite that bad. At times Lauren & I were worried we were going to wake Penelope up we were laughing so hard.

A belated post... We picked Winnie up Saturday. She's settling in well... She's going to be a great addition to the family. The North Face coat my mom made for Neko just needs a minor adjustment as she's a little smaller than Neko was.
-
Thanks everyone. We actually got a bit of good news today... They were actually able to spay the pup today, and she's doing well, so we'll be able to pick her up Saturday!
-
Well, got some bad news... The dog is fine, but she appears to have lost the puppy. Things were looking good this time last week, but mid-week she seemed to transition back to pre-pregnancy condition. We were really looking forward to having the two new additions, but if we're honest, this will be much more manageable, and we'll get to bring her home as soon as they can spay her. We'll probably get to pick her up the first weekend in December. Disappointing, but we were told this was a real possibility, do not entirely unexpected, either.

Finally started watching Daredevil... Great pilot. Looking forward to the rest of the season and then Jessica Jones now that I'm caught up with The Walking Dead.

So happy I saw this... Downloading now!!!

Mr. Robot was another that was made possible through the good will of an Xfinity login on the USA app on the AppleTV!
-
It really is great. I'm fortunate enough to have a family member's Xfinity sign-in information for the FX app on the AppleTV so Season 2 is available there. We also started watching Mr. Robot. I really enjoyed the pilot. One of my favorite TV writers has raved about The Americans, You're the Worst and Mr. Robot, and while I'm late to the table on the last two, he's definitely 3 for 3.

You're the Worst. It's the best. Wildly inappropriate. Great cast. Such a fun to binge on... Catching up on Season 1 on Hulu.
