  1. Definitely worth your time...
  2. Thanks. I was really at a loss on how to hang it. Which is why 15 months after moving in I still don't have anything hung up! It actually looks pretty good on the easel until I figure out where the strapping and rafters are to hang it. The fox is the art from Neko Case's Fox Confessor Brings The Flood CD... The design actually on the CD, though the entire packaging is beautiful. It was the perfect storm of an album I adore (and cannot tire of) and a design I really liked that seemed like it would suit the space and my wall color. Here's a shot of it in the center of the limited edition blue vinyl... And the pictures don't do it justice... The thing is 44" x 38" and really, really grabs your attention in person. My aunt did a great job on the panels, and the whole thing seems to have come together very well.
  3. Well, here it is finished, but not hung yet... Made the frame out of pine, which also has a piece of drywall mounted to the back side. I painted the frame to match the panels, and the drywall to match my wall color. Then I mounted the panels from the back side. This should allow me to hang the whole thing on the sloping wall and the eye should be tricked into thinking the panels and frame are mounted directly to the wall. That's the plan, at least.
  4. That One Dove disc is great. Dot Allison's voice is pure win.
  5. Says the guy that finds sitting in his basement soldering for hours entertaining
  6. A postjack birthday post without the birthday dog. It's not even my birthday and somehow I feel cheated
  7. Bunch of materials to make the frame to hang my painting. Man, trying to hang a series of 6 paintings on a steeply sloped wall is a real pain in the ass! Phase 1 has been completed... Hoping to take care of Phase 2 tonight. That should have me ready for the first coat of paint tomorrow, and maybe, just maybe, getting the thing hung by Sunday.
  8. Happy Birthday!
  9. In a bit.
  10. New walls are straight. Tough part is where the new walls meet the old walls... Not rebuilding the whole thing, and there's not a square corner in the place. So far, so good, though.
  11. Got the rest of the base cabinets for the main part of my kitchen assembled and in. Helped my father work out some of the annoying details involved with putting a new kitchen in a > 100 year old barn without a straight or plumb wall to be found. Ready for the concrete board backing for the backsplash and countertops. Really, really starting to get excited.
  12. Dew Eeeeeeeeet!!! Absolutely can't wait for the show. The clips and live shots I've caught of the new songs are fantastic, and "People Got A Lotta Nerve" is a great tune. Middle Cyclone and March 3rd can't come soon enough!
  13. Whoa! Almost missed it. Happy Birthday Jay! 0O

  15. Learned how to telemark. I think I'm a convert. After 25 years of skiing and 18 or so years of snowboarding, a new challenge is nice. And according to the people who were teaching me, I've picked it up annoyingly fast.

  17. Yeah, I saw some awesome footage of people anywhere from Oklahoma to Ohio trying to drive on ice.
  18. Sorry to hear about the car trouble, Haj. As for me, after work Nate swung by and gave me a hand assembling my first two kitchen base cabinets. It's starting to feel real... I'm actually going to have a new kitchen!
  19. 2 tickets to see Neko Case @ the Berklee Performance Center in Boston, MA on April 11th.
  20. Yay! Middle Cyclone is sooooooo my most awaited album of '09!
  21. Thanks everyone. I'm pretty excited. My kitchen wasn't just an apartment kitchen that carried over from the condo conversion. It was a SHITTY apartment kitchen that carried over! So this is a huge change, and I can't wait to have the space to actually cook for a change. And I went back and forth about the backsplash... The place I found that had both the varied sizes and the 1x1, and I decided to go with the one pictured. But it was a tough call, as the 1x1 is very nice looking as well.
  22. All the parts to make this: Including this: And I'll be ordering my glass mosaic tile tomorrow for the backsplash... Edit: Unassembled in my den: All to fill this space, which is coming along nicely...
  23. I think he was poking fun at Larry, who claims that anyone who has the audacity to mod Grados with wood is taking money from his pocket, especially if the person hasn't first consulted with him, John Grado and I don't know, God him/herself for permission. I know he spoke pretty harshly about me to more than one person because of the few pairs of cups I did for fun and sold at cost.
