  1. It may be just you. I'd argue that the matte finish it shares with the PS-1 looks better than the more polished silver found on the HP and 325/MS2 or the PS-1000. But hey, if you like bling... I could care less about the inner bevel. Sometimes I put them on wood cups I turn, other times I like the hard edge. I don't think it's a cut and dry issue of "nicer". And while they're not cheap, they don't cost a "fortune".
  2. Yeah, there may be hope yet!
  3. Unfortunately I lost my favorite pics of my kitties when my photo hosting site went down. But I'll see what I can do about finding some of Zoe (the runt who I've had since she was found abandoned @ 2 weeks old) and Koshka, the one-eyed cat who picked me when I went to the SPCA to find a new cat.
  4. Cliff Martinez - Solaris Motion Picture Soundtrack Fuck, this is a beautiful album.
  5. I agree with that part.
  6. When I had a chance to sit down with Nate's pair, they sounded damn good from both a Millett Max and a PPA v2. And if they're anything like the HF-1, I'm sure they scale up very well. But I've yet to hear them with anything further down the ladder.
  7. "Blue Lips" is definitely one of my favorites. Far doesn't have any of the obvious clipping issues that were present in Begin to Hope. Not saying they're not there, but nothing as glaring. So far, I have to say this is my favorite of her albums. It is a much better blend of the quirkiness that she had early with the pop sensibility of Begin to Hope. I thought her last one was a bit too polished, but Far seems to be a great blend of everything.

OMG, she's the the cutest thing ever during that little interview.
  9. Considering my experiences with a '00 Jetta, '01.5 Passat and an '02 GTI, you're gonna get your money's worth out of that warranty. On the Passats, be very wary of the cabin air filter (you'll see damp carpet on the passenger side) and plugged or broken sunroof drains (which will fill your car with water to the door sills, killing the well-placed electronic control modules that are under the seats). Having said that, I love driving VWs, and that is one hell of a car! Enjoy!
  10. Cables make a huge difference, in my experience, anyway. You get to hear recorded music with them. You don't get much recorded music without them.

    Top Gear

The Vietnam episode was a bit of a let-down for me. It was a bit of a chore to get through and has none of the re-watchability that many of the others do. I'll often show the specials to various friends and end up watching them 3 or4 times. Definitely not the case with the Vietnam special. It didn't hold a canlde to the Polar special, the SE US trip or the trans-African trip, which was probably my favorite. Oliver FTW!
  12. Most definitely... It's already hard in my early 30's Getting a dog I can't just let out the door has been a great way to maintain a base level of activity. 4-5 walks anywhere from 10-20 minuted (with significantly longer ones on weekend mornings) are hardly vigorous, but it definitely makes it easier to jump into some working out when the motivation strikes.
  13. Too many of the things I enjoy doing require a reasonable level of fitness. So I try to find a decent balance of being both happy and fit.

  15. I've never found buds that isolate worth a damn... The only buds > $20 that I've ever been intrigued with would be the Yuin PK series available @ Head-Direct. I've spoken to a few people who have used them at work because they can a) hear the phone ring, no headphone hair and c) aren't obvious, and they seem to think they perform very well for a bud. I've even bid on a few pairs during silent auctions at meets, but never came away with a pair. So sadly that means I'm recommending something I've never heard. The plus is the line has a pretty good range of models for the intended budget. Availability? No idea.
  16. I saw this on another forum I check in on...
  17. Ummm, not what I had in mind... Followed up Furnace Room Lullaby with Canadian Amp, Blacklisted and Fox Confessor..., and I'm currently listening to Middle Cyclone. Still can't embrace The Virginian, but I usually know I'm in trouble when I start the morning w/ FRL.
  18. Neko Case - Furnace Room Lullaby I think I know where my morning is headed...
  19. Sorry Al. Not cool... Not cool at all.

    Battlestar Galactica

I just wish I would've skipped an undetermined number of episodes at the end... I'm not sure where I would've preferred to have stopped, but there was a distinct point where I realized that despite setting the timetable to wrap things up, they didn't have a clue how they were going to do it. And what was left was a mix of character assassination, plot holes, loose ends and a general feeling of "What? That's it?" Which is hard to do when the finale has more false endings than that third LotR movie.

    Battlestar Galactica

After the way they half-assed wrapping up BSG, my expectations are pretty low... Maybe I should check it out.

    Palm Pre

I'll be curious to see what WM7 does for interface... WM6.5 is a huge improvement on previous versions, but you get a few levels in and it starts to look like 6.1 again, with tiny buttons
