  1. It's been a while, but I remember being very impressed. And the level of violence was both unexpected and welcome.
  2. Mac Mini.
  3. Sarah Jarosz - Song Up In Her Head
  4. Happy Birthday Mark! Hope you have a great day!
  5. Swallow the Sun - New Moon An unfortunate title on an otherwise amazing album.

Peter. I've taken the time to read your thoughts on the series and the finale. And I've carefully considered your arguements... But nope, still sucked. A horrible, disappointing ending for a largely uneven series.
  7. Happy Birthday Dinny!
  8. They were still pretty good. And Paul Rigby (guitar) and Jon Rauhouse (pedal steel) from Neko's band joined the guys from Calexico for two songs which really opened things up.
  9. Just got back from the Neko Case show... She definitely didn't disappoint! That voice... Damn. Good stuff. No, make that great stuff! And Calexico opened. They've been on my list of bands to check out for a while, and I just never got around to it. But I'll certainly be exploring their catalog now.
  10. Went home from work after an hour. Took two 2 1/2 hour naps with another hour nap thrown in for good measure. Still feel crummy, but Neko Case is playing tonight about a mile from my house, which doesn't happen. Ever. So I'll rally.
  11. Just had some fun customizing one of those, and it's amazing how quickly you can get north of $750 w/ no monitor!
  12. Fantasies has taken the lead for me. I think OWU,WAYN? is a stronger album than LIO, but the strongest songs on LIO are stronger than anything on OWU,WAYN?, so that's the one I always reached for. Now it's no contest... The songs on Fantasies are very strong, and as an album it's solid throughout. My favorite by far.
  13. Blame taken. And you can do a lot worse! "Texas Midnight Radio"...
  14. Rykarda Parasol - For Blood And Wine
  15. Nice!!! Dot Allison is great, and that is a great album.
  16. On Nate's recommendation, I picked up some wipe-on poly. I wrapped up sanding the cups I turned yesterday, drilled the holes for the cables and forks and got the first coat of poly on. The wipe-on is a hell of a lot easier to use than the spray-on lacquer I've used in the past. I'm curious how it will end up looking with multiple coats considering how much grain wenge has. But it's looking good so far.
  17. Finished turning some cups. Wrapping them up, finishing up opening up the 2nd cup in the pair and uh oh.... Had my chisel angled out. Wall got too thin and they kinda blew up. Whoops. Then finished turning another pair of cups. These ended up coming out pretty good. They're going to need some more work to finish up, as well as the fork and cable holes taken care of. But it was nice to fire up the lathe for the first time in a while.
  18. Sorry to hear about the cat Pars...
  19. Not cool... Not cool at all. Not one was broken in shipping for me.
  20. I'm a big fan of their debut, though "My Coco" is probably my least favorite track... Didn't realize they had a new one out.
  21. I decided to stay pre-suicide attempt. I was ready to get the clippers out and buzz my head and wrap my wrists, but I was vetoed!
  22. May have been a few years from being relavant, but the GF & I went as Richie & Margot Tennenbaum. I needed about 6 more months of hair growth and 6 weeks of beard growth, but it got the job done. Her outfit, on the other hand, was spot on, including the pink gloves with a finger cut off and a "wooden" finger made of brown painter's tape. It was a big hit at her cousins' Halloween Party.
  23. Took a road trip with the pup. Sandwhich Notch Road was made in 1801, and is only open after mud season until it gets snowed in. It's a cool single lane gravel road with blind corners, dips, holes and bumps. Not real wheeling by any means, but fun none the less.
  24. (2) Goodyear MT/R 245/75R16 tires w/ 11/32" tread remaining (of 19/32") for $100. Considering my rear tires were near bald, I wanted to get something before winter, but didn't want to spring for new rubber all the way around. Tough deal to beat considering they were only $16 each to get mounted and balanced.
