  1. Any chance for the Amazon add-on with the new version?
  2. Rasputina - Oh Perilous World Followed by some... Swallow the Sun - Plague of Butterflies Which may or may not be followed with some... Swallow The Sun - New Moon
  3. Amazon.com: Jane Bites Back: A Novel (9780345513656): Michael Thomas Ford: Books Loving it.
  4. I don't know how many of you saw this, but Ms. Newsom is releasing her follow up to the wonderful Ys next month with a 3-CD/3-LP release of Have One On Me. Yes, a triple album. No idea what to expect, but I'm looking forward to this immensely. Pre-Order here. With tour dates to follow: I'd be lying if I said I wasn't going to keep an eye on that March 17th date in Cambridge, MA.
  5. Will the iPad be able to output audio to an Airport Express? Or will it only be able to act as a control for another Mac/PC running iTunes?
  6. No, I just have a love-hate relationship with Jeeps, which results in a scary turn-over rate for vehicles for me. I've always loved Jeeps, but I also drive. A lot. So they would wear on my nerves, so I'd get something else. But after a while without one, I'd want one again. Throw in a '99 Grand Cherokee, an '02 Grand Cherokee,an '83 DJ-5 (Postal Jeep), a '99 VW Jetta VR6, an '01.5 Passat GLX, an '02 GTI, and a '94 Corolla between those CJs and Wranglers. And I'm only 33. Yes, I have problems. The plus now is a have a low-mileage Unlimited, I walk to work and my girlfriend's Passat is perfect for road trips. So I finally feel settled into something. That CJ looks super clean... Nicely done. Being out west must be nice. I had my '62 shipped up from down south before resto-modding it, and it was soooooo nice to have something that wasn't covered in rust.
  7. Pics? I've had a '62 CJ-5, a '78 CJ-5 Golden Eagle and an '85 CJ-7... Plus a '99 Wrangler Sport, '04 Rubicon and currently have an '05 Unlimited.
  8. Wow, a CJ and a Wells Fargo Mortgage... I've had both, but would never dare to try both at the same time!
  9. For me, the only issue I have with it is the lack of multi-tasking. The plus is I'm not in a position to buy anything like this now, and maybe that'll be something they add down the road. But I'd be hard-pressed to part with that kind of money and only be able to run one app at a time.
  10. What sucks is that Conan will get $40M and his staff goes home with nothing. Unless he's very generous and spreads some of that around. Not to say that he won't want them when his no-compete clause ends, but from what I've read, many aren't too happy that his stand will leave them jobless. Needless to say, I can't argue with him or his decision. But he's certainly not the only one put out by this.
  11. Swallow The Sun - Plague of Butterflies Followed by: Swallow The Sun - New Moon And finishing up with: Swallow The Sun - Hope New Moon is epic. Incredibly good. I'm not sure it can unseat either of my top two for the year, but it's in the top three to be sure.

  13. Agreed... Very cool. Nice job, gues.
  14. I'm Ian, and I approve of this message.
  15. Went up in a 135' JLG man lift to look at the roof of a large hanger-like building. Not cool. As the bucket passed over the roof (more than 100' above the pavement), the wind off the river hit me right in the chest and the lift definitely moved more than I was okay with!
  16. Must. Find.
  17. TiVo HD. Which unfortunately cannot access clear QAM HD channels from Comcast without a CableCard. Which borders on retarded. Which leaves me at a loss of what to do next.
  18. Shoveled. A lot. Despite the fact that the association hires a plow guy. Yup, nowhere to put the snow, plus bad angles for the plow means I shovel light snow before he plows or get stuck digging out heavy packed snow after he's blocked my spots half in.
  19. Well, last year I started a thread and never did a list. Not this year. Unfortunately a change in jobs around mid-year has left me with considerably less time to explore for new music. This has left me in a bit of a rut with music, and has also left me without a lot of exposure to second-half 2009 releases. But for what it's worth, my abbreviated list is below. Neko Case - Middle Cyclone What list of mine couldn't start with Neko Case? I figured it would be my album of the year after the first listen, and many months and two live shows have done nothing to change my mind. If anything, seeing her perform has allowed me to appreciate some of the songs on the album that left me a cold. I like the change of pace from Fox Confessor..., and while it might not be as strong an album in the long run, it still buried most releases this decade, never mind this year. Rykarda Parasol - For Blood and Wine This album had the unenviable task of following Our Hearts First Meet, which slowly became a favorite of mine throughout 2008. And I have to admit that I came away a little disappointed after the first listen. The first couple of songs were unexpected, but once I was able to give it some more time, it really started to sink in. "Covenant" is definitely the stand-out track for me... Haunting and beautiful. The rest of the tracks range from fragile and beautiful to boot-stomping bar room songs. Metric - Fantasies This is definitely my favorite Metric release... It addresses my issues with their previous albums, and in doing so created an album that's great from first track to last, full of hooks, great music and Emily Haines wonderful vocals. Sarah Jarosz - Song Up In Her Head I saw Vicki post this in the WAYLTN? thread and fired up the samples online before leaving for work. It's become a staple of my music listening since. It's hard to believe someone so young can bring so much to this kind of music. Swallow the Sun - New Moon I still maintain that it has an incredibly unfortunate album title, but what an album it is. StS is a band that almost was an afterthought for me, with my love of Opeth & Draconian. But I find myself wanting to spin last year's odd release Plague of the Butterflies and New Moon more and more. Great album. The Gathering - West Pole I was very late to The Gathering, so Anneke leaving wasn't as big a deal to me as it likely was to long-term fans. And Home is still my favorite of their albums with her. But I really, really like West Pole. It's nothing ground-breaking, but it's a great effort from a band that had a lot to live up to, and handled that pressure well. Diablo Swing Orchestra - Sing-Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious I guess since The Butcher's Ballroom took a while to grow on me, I shouldn't be surprised that this has too. I haven't warmed to it like I thought I would, and it was definitely one of the albums I was most looking forward to this year. But it still gets spins, and I hope it really clicks with me sooner or later. Epica - Design Your Universe I know a lot of people think this is better than The Divine Conspiracy, but it's another one that just hasn't clicked for me the way I hoped. Simone's vocals are better than ever, the songs are bigger than ever, but the continuity in TDC really helped tie everything together, where the tracks here leave me wanting. The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love Another band I was late to the part on... I gave Crane Wife a listen shortly after it was released and getting rave reviews, but it wasn't my cup of tea at the time (Though I've since revisited it and enjoy it quite a bit). But THoL is another thing all together. The rock opera/concept album is great, the story is fun, the music is interesting throughout and the vocal performances are fantastic. The choices for the female parts were excellent... Especially Shara Worden. Other albums I enjoyed, but haven't spent enough time with to really have an opinion on... Norah Jones - The Fall Didn't get this until Christmas... Like what I've heard so far. Regina Spektor - Far A better balance of her quirkiness and radio-friendly tunes, but not something I've revisited often. Bat for Lashes - Two Suns Struck me as far more accessible than her debut. But another than I haven't had a big desire to revisit lately. Bon Iver - Blood Bank [EP] I usually throw this in after For Emma, Forever Ago..., but nothing really jumps out at me like some of the tracks from last year's LP. Jenny Owen Youngs - Transmitter Failure Probably a stronger album than her debut, though I still prefer Batten the Hatches. I'm sure I'll think of something I've forgotten... I'll be sure to post if I do. Looking forward to seeing other's thoughts on 2009!
  20. Never quite big enough.
  21. I don't know about that. Because of that decision Will Smith is only responsible for one turd of a movie... Wild Wild West. Keanu Reeves decision to play Neo resulted in a good move... The Matrix... And two complete turds that were far worse than Wild Wild West... The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. I'd argue that the Wild Wild West was the lesser of two evils. No expectations means no real disappointment from WWW. But the Matrix sequels? They could teach a class at film school on how to follow up a successful film to maximize audience disappointment based on the Matrix series.
  22. The GF got this for me for Christmas. I really dig track 10.
  23. Doesn't matter how they sound... They don't fit my head. While my head may be a bit bigger than average, it's not that big. And the pads pull up on the bottom of my ears. No go.
  24. Yeah, I was pretty disappointed when they removed PS2 game support from the PS3, shortly before I got mine
