Thanks... Between work and a bit of a musical rut, I haven't had much to share, even when I do listen. Hopefully work will return to a bit of normalcy, and I'll pop in a bit more!

I get stuck in loops with that album... Or more like loops with the title track. The last 9 minutes or so kills me every time.

This.

Amazon.com: The Passage (9780345504968): Justin Cronin: Books My first Kindle book. The first third was amazing. There's a complete shift at about that third point, which is right where I am, and I have no idea where it's going from here. But the author did a good enough job with the first part that he's built up some good will, and I'm wiling to stick around and see where this train is headed...

Thanks everyone. The fiance & I just finished lunch with my parents, and I have the next 4 days off. Wahoo! Thanks again.

Nikon D70. Thanks Reks!

Did the whole Jailbreak thing with my 3GS... Now just trying to sort through what's worth installing and what isn't.

Thanks, everyone. And yeah, she said yes. Or at least nodded emphatically!

Proposed to my girlfriend last night, forever capping my audio budget!

An Airport Extreme. Setup is complete, and the network is much more responsive. Hopefully the drop-outs are gone for good.

For me, multitasking has had the biggest impact on load times for apps (aka fast switching) and allowing streaming music (Pandora, NPR, etc) while using Safari, emailing, etc. I don't have great coverage at work, so it's difficult to speak to phone performance. And I use the wifi's at home. But I really can't complain about my iOS4 experience with the 3GS, and it has made definite improvements to my experience as the end user.

Well done, Nate. Though you should probably kick the ass if whoever got you involved in the whole hellish 3+ month hiring process in the first place... Oh wait... Never mind...

My exo4 case arrived for my iPhone today. Fit and finish are pretty good. One minor imperfection in the anodizing, but it's not like the case won't get dinges up here and there. And I used some black electrical tape to tighten up the fit. But those are minor quibbles. The case is slick, and the rosewood is a nice touch.

My Woot! Kindle arrived today. I'm not sure I could've justified the cost of the DX, but at $150, I could satisfy my curiosity. While I still value the feel of a nice book, I don't need more stuff. I need to buy fewer books (though some WILL be bought) and sell some that I have for space, but I will never want to stop reading. So we'll see how this fits the bill.

Yeah, CRTs and magnets don't play together very well at all. Everything I've read points to no effect on flash memory or reception, and Apple even sells cases with magnetized clasps. Of course, given Apple's track record as of late, that's no guarantee that there won't be problems! I got an email from the company today letting me know that my order was set. Nice to hear from them.

Happy Birthday Mike!

Since it looks like I'm keeping the 32 GB 3Gs for a while, I sprung for a new case... From EXOVAULT - Metal Phone Case - itouch- iphone2g - itouch3g Not cheap, but pretty impressive. I'm willing to pay for craftsmanship, and I've read some pretty good things. The wood is so the aluminum case doesn't interfere with the signal. Previous generations had openings, but still had metal around the antennae which still screwed with the signal. The brass was pretty badass, but a little too bling for my taste. But the hinged/magnet system looks pretty cool, compared to the bolted version. I'll post an update when it's in and in use with a review/update.

Yeah, I have what is probably a 3 Mbps DSL account that I'm stuck with for another 6 months. I guess I can't complain because I got it dirt cheap for the first 12 months, but for what I'm paying now, I can't wait to go to something with a little more speed. Netflix HD streaming is barely passable, and while surfing is OK, downloading anything of substance is painfully slow. I keep telling myself that December will be here soon!

I have noticed connectivity issues lately with Safari and internet-rich apps. I'll be curious to see what this 'fix' does for data on my 3GS.

While there are certainly issues with the 4G, and I know your 3G to iOS4 upgrade did not go well, I don't know if I'd swear off the 3GS. I can't say enough good about my iOS4 experience on my 3GS. It took a few days for apps to get updated to be iOS4-friendly, but since, things have gone very well. If there's an opportunity to give it a shot w/out a contract, I'm not sure I see the downside with the 3GS.

Met her at a show in Portland, ME... Incredibly nice girl, and I ended up with a personalized note from her. Oh yeah, great show, too. This. One word: Amazing!

Sad Panda Sorry, Nate... Not cool at all.

The new gmail setup with iOS4 actually has push as a setting (like Exchange), but it wasn't pushing anything. A quick search online and it appears to be a common issue. I went back to the Exchange setup for now, but hope they get it together sooner or later.

Disappointed that the gmail push isn't working... I had to go back to using the Exchange setup as a work-around. I thought that was supposed to have been fixed with iOS4.
