Binged season 1 this week. Mostly good stuff. Looking forward to season 2.
  3. Bummed I had to miss this year's event. Would like to have heard the HD820. Did anyone?
  4. So sorry to hear Todd. RIP Carol.

  7. ^Sorry to hear Dusty. Hope all turns out ok.
  8. Spiral fractures from slipping on ice last week - one near bottom of tibia, the other at top of fibula: Now have a plate & screws inside anchoring everything for healing. I have a feeling my leg looks a little like Colin's underneath the cast, just not as "pretty"
  9. Just finished ep4 - really like too. This is how to develop an environment that is both cold-war retro and cutting edge at the same time. Characters you care about, some you probably hate, and those you aren't quite sure about. Keeping the mystery, while dripping just enough substance to keep you engaged. Also first ep of "Here and Now" - it's basically "This is Us" but on HBO-roids. Depressingly raw (you've been warned), but promising. I actually hope its a limited run to keep the writing tight.
  10. Saw the first episode. Thought it was a hot mess. Found little to care about the characters, including the lead *shrug* Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Too Much Music: A Failed Experiment In Dedicated Listening - A fun read that brings up some interesting questions & thoughts for today. https://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2018/01/16/578216674/too-much-music-a-failed-experiment-in-dedicated-listening
  12. Can you just send the cover back for proper replacement?
  13. Travelers (season 2) - another good round for Netflix. Just wish there wasn't such long times between seasons. Glad I re-watched S1,e12 to refresh my memory. Probably shoulda re-watched the entire first season. Still, good stuff.
  14. Happy birthday Thomas!
  15. Both of those speakers (LS50's & Cicada's) seem to have very different ideal amp requirements. Given you have two other systems already, I'd suggest playing around with some interesting tube amps with the Cicadas for a different flavor. Maybe add a turntable?
  16. Happy Birthday, Tom!
  17. RIP Daliah Lavi - actress, singer, passed away at 74 years of age on May 4, 2017. This clip from the original 1967 Casino Royale was just about the sexiest thing I'd ever seen during my young, formative years: I have no idea if she was particularly talented otherwise. But the fact that I came across this news on a somewhat random web-search, & seeing that she had passed away recently with little, if any (that I saw) fanfare made me a little melancholy.

  19. @Shelly - sorry to hear about the place. A good inspector that works for you is worth their weight in gold. Our inspector saw two, tiny, old, cut pipes barely coming into a dark corner of our cellar, near where the inside oil tank currently resides. This triggered an underground scan of the driveway just outside cellar wall, which discovered a huge underground oil tank. The inside oil tank conversion was done prior to the last owners who had lived there for ten years, and they claimed no knowledge until the scan. Long story still long, they paid for the old tank removal, soil testing (sale contingent upon not needing further remediation), & repaving. I am a firm believer that the right home appears when it is right for you though, so you have the right attitude. Good luck with the continued search, and have fun with it. @mypasswordis - so a woman was licking the window outside your diner booth, and y'all post a selfie???!!!!! #trueheadphonenerds
  20. Happy birthday!
  21. Caught up with all three seasons this past week/weekend. Wonderfully scripted & deftly delivered. Fantastic performances all around. I love Lily Tomlin even more than I did before, if that's possible.
  22. Happy birthday!

The Sony MDR-R10/CD3000, Qualia 010/SAx0000, & Z1R models are from completely distinct eras of Sony. They each represent such different (& pretty much opposite) approaches to a certain ideal that they might as well have come from different companies. Purk, if you'd like to hear an interesting headphone that is very reminiscent of the venerable R10, check out the Final Audio Design Sonorous VIII & X models. I heard them at CanJam NYC this year, & was left with more of an impression than from the Z1R.
