So does me. Glad you're getting to use the stands Mike ... but they look awful empty to me.

doG, I'm a dick. Just wanted to mention here that I've been asked if we can bring our headphone measurement system to Can Jam '09 and have agreed. So there's a good chance that if you bring your cans there we can measure them for you.

There's something wrong in Colorado...

Not even me ... especially not me, I've got to live in here. -
+1! Iron Dreamer, would you email me a higher (not necessarily RAW but just about maybe 4x larger) pic of this? [email protected]. Or you could just point me to a page on imageshack where I could pick it up. I assume it's still OK to use one of your pix in an ad? What do you want me to put for a photo credit? Thanks, mang. Here's mine, just a few. Thanks for coming, everyone. It was a pleasure as always. .

Geez! You've taken to this place quite well. Alright, those cases were damn heavy, so not decrepit. Let's call it cranky. BTW, if any of you guys ever go to Minniapolis, drop Old Pa a note and get directions to that radio museum. It was friggen stellar. Thanks for the heavy lift on that gig too.

If Rick doesn't know what a wildman I am by now, he's just not paying attention. I guess you haven't been paying attention either. Smooch! I'd say you guys are all quality over quantity, but I know that's not right. YOU WANT IT ALL! Oh! Like a knife in the back. I'm taking my daughter April with me to the meet and am making a little vacation out of it for her and I. So ... dahmak! ... I can't take you up on your offer. And in any case, us Beemer guys like our cylinders all floppy-like, hanging out in the breeze, not like those perky upstanding jugs on a Guzzi.

Naw, an Ultra-Micro stack went missing. Knuckledragger, the pix in my first post are mine, the ones in the second come from a variety of folks. I have a Canon 10D DSLR. My tank bag is basically a camera bag. And, I swear, there's room for only one bottle of tequilla normally in those panniers, the rest is strictly survival. Not that a bottle of tequilla isn't just as important to me in terms of survival on the road. After 10-12 hours of riding, you NEED a drink something wicked.

Oh! Yeah, yeah, loose gear? Gotta send an XL t-shirt.
-
No you don't. That's part of the risk we take shipping shit to meets. Happy B-day to you, you fucking fuck. (Seriously, don't sweat it. Prolly got lifted.)
-
I'll get you one.
-
No fucking idea ... but it was cool. Sorry I missed you Al ... no, I'm not, I had too much fun.

I should add that I was in charge of the booze for the meet. Here's a couple of pix of me handing out likker. And then a few other random pix of me there. I'm on the bottom here, but I'm winning. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. It was a cool event.

Geez, you guys have a lot of faith I'd find this thread ... I am quite irregular here. was riding my motorbike to Lake City Colorado and back last week; didn't even remember it was my birthday til I got home. I reckon I'll share a bit, how about some pix from my trip? The following is a repeat of a post I did over on advrider.com --- my personal forum of choice --- about my trip down to West Fest, their equivalent of a National Meet. There's a lot of references that you guys won't get, but what the hell, it's easies just to copy the post. Enjoy the pix! --------------------------------------------------- Yadda, yadda, blabba, blabba, if you want everything smooth and organized join BMWMOA. For me, it's about throwing yourself face first into the unknown. Thanks, Dean, for being an ADVevent adventurer and taking us all along for the ride; a couple of face plants and a flat are nothing but the chance to recover, and it was a pleasure to help you out. Pix, you say! I started with 900 miles and about 150 of dirt. It did not suck. Went to Lake City first to order booze, and then headed over to Salida for a coupla nights with Duke, Tami, and crew. In the category of "nicest people you ever met" these guys are #1 with a bullet. Workin' the ADVgrill. If anybody deserves a pile of dough to keep up the good work it's these two. Nice call, Jen. :thumb Don't start humming a tune though or you're likely to have an ADVcoloratura thrown down on you. Summertime, and the living is easy. Speaking of slabs of meat, Meathead has a brat for you, right here! He's an arteest, too. Killer sticker! Pansy brought another classic sticker, too. Adways cheap cunt KLR ADVsticker. A classic from the heart. :cry A coupla sweet ladies that'll hand you you ass in a pretty basket. Take a pic, Deb. Ben and Charla make camp for the ADVfamily. Not long after they had to blockade their tent ropes ... I kept falling over them like a dumbass. They really should have known. Charla's cute when she giggles. But she'll punch your lights out if you make her laugh too much. Mark gives Kat some blow job advice as Sonny looks on. Close up of the hot action. Best. Back. Yard. Evar! So, as usual, I go out for a putts around town for some pix of Salida. Here's the Dukesters shop with Tami's two doors down. Then up to the top of Spiral Drive for an overview of town. Lesee ... Duke and Tami's shops are right down there somewhere. Salida is a seriously fun little town; an eclectic mix. This house is just plain sweet. Old Skool, baby! Yup, and eclectic mix of old railroad West meeting dot.com refugee West. Like this guy, "I wants my guns, but I want raygunz!" :yikes :dunno :scratch That's worth a closer look, eh? The next day we road part of the TAT to Lake City. WOW! Colorado roads suck ... NOT! Not many pix 'cuz I was having so much fun but, can't think of a better group of folks to travel 140 miles of dirt road with. I was far too busy handing out or sucking up booze to have taken many pix. Didn't even ride the local passes. My excuse is I had too much good riding getting there, but the truth is I'm old and frail, so really felt the need for daily recuperation for each evenings debauchery. I did saunter up to the mines about 3 miles up for a few pix though. Quick, MotoKat, what does this make you think of? If you look carefully you can see that this outhouse is dangling over a 60 foot cliff on the mine site. They were either shitting down a shaft, or the people at the bottom of the operation got paid crap. Back to town for a couple of pix. Here's a cute church. I love the detail. Some cabins in town. After three days of fun and games it was back to a serious ride home. Again, Colorado does not suck. 'Course, niether does the whole Gread Devide Basin, or the Rockies in general. Like we say: "It's all downhill from here." Where I slept. When I woke. Hot damn! Let's do this again sometime! .

Thanks, Ausburger. Don't even think about it.

Thanks, guys!

Sorry, did I do a bad?

Hi all you Lalalanders! I'm doing the LA/OC Audiophile Society meet again, and would love to have any of you there who wish to come. Here's the official page. Please feel free to bring gear if you'd like. I will have the Audiophile Desktop playing in the room at times, so sealed headphones would be good if you have them. Here's the details: Sunday, August 24, 12-4pm at the Holiday Inn in Buena Park. Please let me know here if you plan to come. Thanks! See you then!

No. I think it was the Pro arm of Dynaudio: http://www.dynaudioacoustics.com/ But I saw something else that was wickedly DSPed. Digital crossovers, eq, room compensation, ect. The Dynaudio stuff has some of that, but I'm pretty sure there was something else too. I'd like to hear the Dynaudio gear though.

We were all ready to sell a couple of pairs of active speakers; we tested two Genelecs, one Blue Sky, and the NHT M00 active speakers. What we found was that they just didn't measure up to well designed passive speakers with an outboard amp. There's nothing stopping active speakers from sounding as good or better than passives and an amp except the market dynamics me thinks. It seems to me that most passive speakers are built to deliver as much system synergy and cost savings as possible, in other words it seems to me that active speaker systems are usually built for "bang for the buck" customers. And that means that you're not going to get extremely high quality (expensive) parts, so while the potential is there, the quality improvements possible are not capitalized on 'cuz they're trying to keep the costs down. There is another level of self-powered speakers that comes from studio demands; these active speakers are quite expensive. The high end Genelecs will cost you $2k. When we compared these to good audiophile mini-monitors we found that they we somewhat disappointing. In this case, it seems to me part of the problem you always get when comparing high-end to pro gear: the pros just kinda don't get it. Pro gear makers do spend a little more on parts than consumer makers ... but not much. They don't really pop for the real expensive parts----well maybe in the digital domain, but I don't think they've really learned their lesson in the analog domain. Anyway, the Genelecs seems somewhat harsh to me. The NHTs were good for the bux but not great. Bottom line, I think if' you are really trying to set up a really high-end mini-monitor system you are better of with a good high-end bookshelf speaker and a similarly good class-D power amp. Sure, that's exactly what we're selling, but were selling it because that's the solution that seemed to work best when we checked it out. I think I should add that there are some self-powered speakers that I would guess are competative with passive speakers and amp and that's some of the very high-end pro-stuff. Like these from Harbeth. http://www.harbeth.co.uk/uk/index.php?section=products&page=monitor40.1active&model=Monitor%2040.1%20Active Not mini-monitors though. Anyway, I did stumble across a few of these very high end self-powered systems, sorry I can't find the one I'm thinking about that had all sorts of DSP crossovers and time alignment adjustability, but some of these active systems are CRAZY complex and expensive. When I looked into the pricing of these systems they didn't seem any less expensive that separate speakers and amps, but they did do somethings that was only possible (DSP crossovers for example) with separates.

Naw, sorry mang, gonna spend a lot of time this year on internal infrastructure and formality. Maybe I should use one of those shots above for the cover of our "Official HeadRoom Corporate Structure and Authority Guideline" manual.

BTW Aardvark, that's fucking hysterical. Thanks!

...and... Well then, you sure as hell don't want to see this: Anybody got any eye bleach? (same shoot, different costume; got some buck nekkid too, but I don;t think anyone is EVAR going to see those in digital form---that would be FAR too dangerous.)

Hi Folks, just a short one here as I posted a longer thanks on HF. Mike, you're the fucking man. Thanks! And thanks to all of you for allowing me to have a job where part of it is to go out and have a friggen great time. Really, thanks everybody! Alright, I'm going to bed.

Already done. But without being able to punch the little douche in the face it's not particularly satisfying.

Donor has been pretty active in the "for sale" areas on Head-Fi. Well, turns out our boy donor is pulling a fast one on us. He runs the headphone product review site www.headphonesrock.com. He talks to manufacturers to get review samples and then turns around and sells them to folks here. We just caught him red handed. He had the gaul to have us ship the unit directly to the buyer saying the buyer was a reviewer ... which of course he wasn't. Un-friggen-believable! One wonders if he was going to just steal our product copy writing and print it as his review, after all, he was never even going to listen to the amp. NEVER EVEN GOING TO LISTEN TO THE AMP! He's not even a descent headphone geek or he would have at least listened to the amp first out of curiosity! We looked at the reviewed product on his web site and the gear he's sold on Head-Fi and there was a STRIKING similarity of gear. This guys real name (we think) is Benjamin Donnaloia, his email address (one of them anyway) is [email protected] . DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS GUY!
