BTW, if Apple is so damn smart, how come my iPad Safari bookmarks didn't just transfer to my iPad? Fucking douchebags, where's my automagic?

If my goal was to get Jacob wound up for his night of debauchery ... I WIN!!

I guess I think the "coolness" gap may be closing, and Apple may have a harder and harder time demanding the prices with other products close enough at 2/3 the price. Then it'll be harder to be on the money making curve.

I kinda buy your points. It's going to be an interesting struggle. I got a MacBook, iTouch, and iPad (it arrived! letting it warm up a bit before it goes into the otterbox), and despite my qvetching above, I'm going to try to do as much of my work as I can in Appleland because it's so much more enjoyable than in Windows. I agree, I think my preference beyond the fact that their close is the refreshing feel of a beautifully designed product. Intangibles can be sweet.

So, I buy the standard responses, but try this on for size: Apple's big win was converging a lot of shit and making it simple to do everything from one (or a couple) of devices. Convergence is bitchen on Apples. But, with Google as a backdrop, and various folks streaming various shit, and everyone playing catch-up with the Apple media experience, I think we might find better, deeper, more varietous, open, and controllable brands of convergence. In essence, the Apple "lock down" on 3rd party stuff will end up limiting them when convergence is better broadly. In future, it may feel like you've sold out into the Apple world and hobbled by it. iTunes relentless desire to control my music pisses me off; I don't want a bigger version of that. It's not so much the hardware or OS, but the convergence upstream of your device that will count. The smarter the web gets, the more you'll only need a browser in your pocket --- and that's not very tough. A open market of converged technologies may be better than the converged but closed world of Apple.

Why not? Okay, you win.

My new Droid rocks the boat. My iTouch feels a bit dated now. Will my iPad, yet to arrive on this New Year's eve day, feel just ordinary as the New Year's dawns tomorrow? Five years hence, will Apple feel like Microsoft, and Microsoft like National Cash Register? Has Apple just introduced us to the new millennium, only to find themselves running to catch up after showing everyone else how to do it?

NO shit. I've taken to listening to Pandora in the garage as I work. When I play old Jazz I try to identify the playes and then look at the screen to see if I got it right. Kinda like flashcards for Jazz geeks. I also surf the genres of interest and punch the bookmark button when I hear something I might like to buy later. If they're out to get my money, they just might win. Finding and listening to new music has never been easier, me thinks.

Have a good one, Rexie! I got you a shovel with a bit more "agro." Ooooff!

Thanks, Nate, I'll check it out.

I've had my Droid Incredible for about two weeks now and I'm in Love! I've been a bit of a ludite when it comes to phones ... I just made calls on them. When I lost my phone recently, I went down to the Verizon store and popped my cherry on the Droid. Just. Fucking. Amazing. I know, old news by now, but shit, it's the first time that convergence has seemed convenient as well. FM radio and GPS while on my walks; Pandora on WiFi in the garage while sawing wood; hell, at TamJam I was in the car and recieved a message where to meet folks, then hit the "navigate" button and spoke the address, sure as shit it told me where to go. Amazing. iPhones don't live on Verizon, so I didn't go that direction, but I bought an iTouch. Personally, I find the Droid OS and UI significantly superior in terms of being intuitive. Wha? How can someone have come up with a UI slicker than Apple? Has Apples compelling stance as the market leader in coolology now become a disadvantage as others use and improve on their example? Sure as hell is a good time to be a gadget geek.

Monster is whacking Fanny on alleged "trade dress infringement." Wha..? Looks like the Solo. I wonder how they sound?

Wha...? Mead Killion is a superlative engineer, and the clarity of Etys treble is outstanding. I've seen the back room measurement methods and how they align stuff --- friggen rock solid in my book. Okay, sure a single drive can do only so much, but relative to other products at similar price points, I think you're mistaken. I wouldn't go with Westones or Earsonics. The Triple-Fis are decent, but the ergos suck. I'd go Sure 530s over Triple-Fis every time.

Happy B-Day Chris!

Really, dude, these guys know what they're talking about. Look at all the first suggestions. The only thing I'll add is that the new Etys are the shit and I'd get one with a mike so you can use it on your phone.

Happy Birthday Ken!!!

I've Become a Computer Audio Wacko!

I got sick of playing cds; I think it's just knowing the order of the tracks. Anyway, got bored with them. I'm constantly amazed at how well just random play works on a large, well liked music collection. Australia's ABC Jazz is sweet. -
Watch it full screen.

Hey, whadaya doing there?

Sweet!
