  1. +1 An oft used phrase, but not by me for a long, long time: "I heard things I've never heard before."
  2. To which I'll add, the low frequency distortion in both the 007 and 009 were surprisingly low.
  3. Like a boss!
  4. Happy B-day guys! Have good one.
  5. LET THERE BE LIGHT!!!
  6. Woops! Was out camping and missed this. Happy Birthay, you crusty old man from Oz!
  7. Hi Inkblot, Post up bitch. Let's see what you've got.
  8. I wonder if HeadRoom still has their Orpheus cans? I'll check. Thanks for the kudos guys, it was great fun. I certainly will continue to measure estats as long as I can. Alex will need his amp back someday soon. I need to tell you that from Oct 11-21 the chamber will be in use doing the last burn-in test while I go to RMAF. I have mentioned to people to get their estats in for measure prior to that so I can send the amp back to Alex. More than happy to continue on after RMAF, but that's Alex' call.
  9. Fuck, I laughed and laughed at the first one: "LIKE A BOSS" I get about 4000 YouTube vies a day now and have hundreds of subscribers (YouTube is a stunningly good PR tool). You've got to think most folks there will be dumbfounded by the collection of gear. Fuck Dre.
  10. Thanks guys. And big thanks to the Stax mafia, I had a great time.
  11. ^^^ Fuck off, shorty. Here you go: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/comparing-world-class-headphones
  12. Holy Crap! That took some doing: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/comparing-world-class-headphones
  13. Justin's site says $1248.75 1/4 down w/o RK50. My math says that's $4995 total.
  14. Oooops! I just copied the price on HeadAmp site, now I see that that's just the 1/4 down payment. Looks like $4995 total? 5995 w/RK50? Justin? (I thought my first number seemed like a brgain.) So $37k+ .... what's a coupla grand here or there?
  15. I think the SR-009 is the best headphone I've ever heard. It's about the only headphone that has good treble response, but no apparent area of exageration. Smoove as a baby's butt. The lowest notes aren't quite up to Audez'e extention and punch, but boy these do very very well for an estat. Currently have this gear on my kitchen table: HeadAmp Blue Hawaii ($1248.75); Apex Audio Pinnacle ($10,000); Wadia 861SE CD Player ($9,950); Stax Sr-009 ($5200); Stax SR-007, Mk1 late version ($2600 for current MK2); Sennheiser HD 800 ($1499); Audez'e LCD-2 late Rev 1 ($995); HiFiMAN HE-6 ($1199); HiFiMAN HE-500 ($899). That's $32,000+!!! Comparitive review of some of the world's best headphones (you tell me if there are any missing) within the next 12 hours. Miles to go before I sleep.
  16. Yo, Jim, happy birthday, mate!
  17. 10kHz @ 50% humidity attenuates 4dB over 30 meters, while 100Hz has essentially none; over 3 meters which is a more realistic listening room distance the difference is inconsiquential. So there is high frequency roll-off, but it's quite a small number. My understanding is that most of the percieved HF roll-off in listening rooms is from higher absorption of the highs in furnature or carpet in the first reflection and reverberant sound.
  18. At one point I was curious myself. So I found a pair of headphones in which I could see the driver, hooked it up to a battery in proper polarity and could see the driver moving in the right direction, and then tested it. So I have manually checked the polarity and it looked proper.
  19. I'm tired of pedaling.
