Why do you say that edisonwu? Do you feel the balanced XLRs don't match a decent $500 amp? Curious because although I've heard the headphone out, I haven't straight XLR out. So far the best $500 amp I've heard is the RudiStor NX-01, though I don't know how it compares to the Lavry balanced.

Hmmm it may be tuberolling, but that hasn't been my experience with the TubeDAC+ (& 3XAC PS) at all. Haven't done a low end measurement, but to these ears there's no problem on that end.

Okay, I'm sure you've seen me asking questions on these setups recently, and I know these systems have little in common, but based I want I already have and some money I should have shortly I could have one of these setups. Soooo which would you choose?

Considering any cable. The Equinox 2 1/2 month wait though may be a bit much for my patience.

Have read repeatedly the HD650 shows one of the largest gains in going balanced. Just curious what cable (DIY, Mobius, Blacksilver, etc.) people are going with when moving balanced? Especially curious if you have any thoughts of synergy direct from DA10. Thanks.

philodox, what brand is that bling? Coming close to dropping the cash for the DA10. Anyone got a cheap source for a decent female to female adapters? Been looking for an all in one dac/amp. Aria was a failure IMO in that department (dac just wasn't up to snuff). Hoping the DA10 saattiissffiiees.

IEMs and soundstage??? Have had less use for my Etys lately also so went around and tested (again) most Shure and Ultimate Ears models at Macworld in January (obviously not the best place to test). Again found them too muddy for my tastes. Would like a bit fuller sound (why I was lookin'), but not at the expense of detail and unfortunatly don't want to spend any more. Still sticking with the Etys here (though prefer other full-sized phones). As they say, "poor mans Stax."

Side question: I haven't seen shots of the DA10s back. Are the XLR jacks male or female? Basically looking for which Headphile cable I'll need to run straight out of the back. PFKMan23, how did your repaired unit fair?

The rep at the Saratoga meet was the differences between the K701 & K601 were "slight". I didn't hear them then, but last night I was at Voltrons house and he has both (K601 burned in, K701 new). Unless the K701 losses breath and soundstage with burn in, it's really hard for me to believe most would find their differences to be minor. People may actually prefer the K601 more enclosed sound, but to no matter your preference they don't sound the same.
