I like saying that three times fast. I may be very late to the game and this all common knowledge (from web search it certainly appears it's big with the hippies), but anyone else here try Castile soaps (buying or making - making)? A friend bought a bunch in prep for a camping trip (those 18-in-1 uses - body, shampoo, tooth-paste, aphrodisiac, bug repellant, etc.), so I gave it a try and man, if it's possible to be excited about liquid soap (it is!), this is it. Besides the strange pick-me-up (nose, skin and other sensations - easily conteracting the rum from the night before), with Dr. Bronners you're also entertained by the most unusual label I've seen in some time on a consumer product. "More good is caused by evil than good. Enlarge the positive!" "Each swallow works hard to be perfect pilot-provider-builder-trainer-teacher-lover-mate, no half-truth hate!" "Americanism is the knowledge of, the loyalty inspiration or attachment to the Army of Principles of All-One-God-Faith." And there's more wisdom as seen below... Anyway, if the label makes me feel a bit dirty, the soap does the opposite. I swear showers are more fun in the morning. So anyone else have experience with Castile?

Great costumes. Was there blood under the wrist bands? I got close with creepy/crawlies by climbing under a friends house to start her furnace, listend to a debate on fast versus slow zombies on NPR, feel asleep early and woke up in the middle of the night and watched the below* (click to launch larger viewer) on my iPhone. Far from a crazy holiday this year. *The Omega Man/I am Legend story.

Gotta beg to differ. Defined (though even general ones like this has its uses) hierarchies are only an issue if you place too much emphasis at the top. Using examples already given, ranking Shakespeare above Chekhov isn't remotely an insult to Chekhov, an encouragement to avoid him, nor inclusive of all related non-defined traits or differences (not to mention relationships are likely a key of the digestion of both authors by most readers). From the vast amount of time my 30-40 year old co-workers spend reading comics (sorry guzzi ), I'd say we need more lists! Stretching it, I have the same problem when people start ranting about film criticism, which seems to be the trend lately. We have limited time on planet Earth, hierarchical lists, reviews, etc. open up experiences through focus. At least in theory. Worry less about hypothetical exclusions and more about accurate, defensible inclusions. I suppose easy additions would be "Homer" and the Kalevala author(s) (or does oral traditions blow the pen requirement). And does Shakespeare have to exist? Also don't think can ignore Oprah, who likely still thinks Frey is the swellest.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. Sure there are a ton of optimistic Country songs, but this list is filled with personal optimism (a better relationship, that big fish, etc.), not a cultural optimism towards the future (the country is getting better, modern technology can be good, etc.)? I can't think of five of those (unless you bring in the afterlife, then a ton of Bluegrass). Again it's so often looking back when talking larger. And sure we can make some generalizations. It wouldn't be a genre, even in contemporary growth, if we couldn't. Even while picking out this songs differences (if anyone agrees with me), it and the video are filled with generalizations. All the flag waving, hats, "my grandpa in WWII", etc. It's Country. The contemporary scene is what's most interesting. The Blues roots are indeed important to all of this (and trajectory similar), but doesn't it seem in the interest of preserving a "timelessness," (even while diversifying in some aspects), the genre it's increasing looking back? You could make the same claim about Dylan, Prine, etc. too. Modern technology in most of these songs stop at the telephone and automobile still. This song leapfrogs decades forward, no? And says the next discovery could be even greater. The country and world could be better through new solutions, not solely through old values. Anyway, I'm repeating myself, maybe off my rocker and definitely drunk, but finally I don't think anyone is kicking around Country in this thread. As far as I can tell we're all fans. Really in the end I'm not sure this is any different than when I first heard (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding by the other Elvis. Thought - "This a punk song?"* * Note: I'm in no way comparing quality.
