Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation. Plenty of albums I like better (hell, even SY albums), and I rarely listen to this anymore, but honestly this may end up being the most important album in my life for hitting when I was the right age to appreciate, clearing cobwebs and setting a stage for the future. Plus always thought the term/genre "Artcore" was pretty badass. Strangely, I think The Pixies (no slouch) narrative has overwritten some of the Sonic Youth ripples.

That's interesting. I latched on to the very related necessity of resistance in Art angle (which he also touched on in 'It Might Get Loud'). Probably heard it first from Matthew Barney, but White is the articulate one.

The first 17 or so minutes is pretty old news, no? It's why Pono seemed like such a great idea, years ago. Even the new systems are rapidly evolving. Had a conversation with another yesterday about Spotify v. Beats organizational choices and how the former seemed more designed for a personal collection expanded, where the latter more discovery system improved. Like 'Stretch hope his later comments about future audiophile subscription models comes to be. Even if not, we live in a really interesting time. For all the bitching on MP3, we have access to soooo much music through subscription models. So fun to explore. As speaker said, we just need to improve curation and metadata. Course I'm discussing from consumers perspective, not speakers audience.
