  1. Here's the funny thing - I still kinda do. Maybe naive, but all the campaign disasters aside (and I wouldn't suggest ignoring for any future purchases), I still think the Geek Out 720 sounds decent and hope this scales accordingly. Expectations wrapped in the price paid blanket of course. Can anyone more knowledgable than I (everyone) tell anything from this?
  2. Over time we've certainly got to know a great deal about Light Harmonic business practices, but we'll find out about SQ and/or BJs shortly. Supposedly their shipping order is campaign waves (1st, 2nd, Purgatory/Current, etc.), sub-ordered by model (Pulse, Pulse X, Pulse S), further divided by order date, at a rate of about 20 units per day (though have my suspicions about this). Not sure anyone here ordered (and didn't cancel or upgrade) a base model early, so we're probably a few weeks away from receiving one, but the few of us still in included early orders and base models. Have to admit I prefer the experience of waiting on new gear arriving from a company I respect.
  3. Dylan/Band - Basement Tapes. Dig the vinyl/CD sleeves.

Anyone compare the Fire Stick to Chromecast? Been waiting for next AppleTV version so been relying on Chromecast and its third party support (including Air Parrot 2 a lot likely).
  13. Well, it's something. To be fair, although delayed multiple times (I think July was first ship date before things went crazy), the DAC has been slated to ship mid-December for a bit now. Different models, different times, so others may be getting them this week. I guess I could always do this now [skip to 3:50].
  14. I just received a linear power supply. Hoping for something to use it with soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

On the B&H front - in case anyone else is looking and didn't see my consumer post - Sigma dp2 Quattro for $400 off. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1030324-REG/sigma_dp2_quattro_digital_camera.html
  16. Happy Birthday Gene!
  17. After moving several months ago, the things I haven't been able to find are my cameras and backup hard drives. Been driving me crazy. So today retraced my steps and I went through each of the remaining 40ish boxes for the third time. Four boxes from the end I found them in a box labeled in big letters "Cameras & HDDs."

Misfit Flash (introduced last month) activity tracker for $25. Love mine. Sleep tracking especially (though being awake at 4am isn't helping). For those unfamiliar these run off an included watch battery. So 4-6mo on each battery versus charging each night. http://store.misfit.com/products/flash?utm_source=Shine+Community&utm_campaign=ebc052ac35-Holiday_Sneak_Preview_11_24_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_f54f17c36f-ebc052ac35-55982557&ct=t

I'll keep posting an article every two years. Here's a great one about working at Radio Shack on Thanksgiving. http://www.sbnation.com/2014/11/26/7281129/radioshack-eulogy-stories "This is a consumer technology business that is built to work perfectly in the year 1975. The Internet comes around, and this, being a technology company, is expected to move on it aggressively and know what it's doing, except basically nobody really understood the Internet for a very long time. So they whiffed big a few times. Then the iPhone came around and rendered half the stuff RadioShack sold completely redundant. This company needed to become something radically different a decade ago. I just don't think it knows how to be anything else. It's like retracing the steps and doings of a drunk person: okay, here's where he keyed the cop car. Wait, why'd he do that? I don't know, but his pants are lying here, so this is before he stripped naked and tried to rob the library."
  24. iTunes Radio playlist mixed from Afternoon Delight, Silly Love Songs and Tiny Dancer. Happy goofiness overflows. Edit: Example...
  25. Hope it's a great one!
