The bike is a self-present. The gear is from others. My brother also got the same bike but another color, and my close friend got a Kawasaki Ninja. That above is a Suzuki S40 (pretty much the Suzuki Savage, just renamed). We've all been wanting to get bikes, but we got a pretty darn good deal with this group buy, which wouldn't have happened if I had gone out on my own to buy one. Tomorrow we ride out. I like the jacket and helmet. Family certainly knows my taste! I also got gloves. With this gear, I think some amber/orange goggles are in order! p.s. : and mikeymad was right, I got orange-flavored cake. heh.

Thank you very much for the good wishes, everyone! Taking a break from the early festivities before I go out on this: Orange of course! Best birthday ever! Wearing these:

Oh! Forgot to mention a tiny bit of celebration from my part: Florida weather is unpredictable. Today it rained during the 2nd (and last) day of training. I still didn't think how two days were enough to learn all this, but such was the time limit set. What could I argue? They were the experts, not me. Despite being rain-drenched and trying to see through the water settling on the lens of my glasses, I (as well as the others in my class) pushed through because the instructors made us push through. "Not unless there is lightning do we stop. The course continues." A series of exercises followed. We began at 1:00pm (the 1st half of the day was all theoretical, now it was time to put theory to practice). At 6:00 the final exam began. Each one called to the line and told to do the maneuvers. Half an hour later, we were all done. Unfortunately, some done for, but at least given the chance to come back for a re-test. Not all hope was lost at least. As for me, my hands were a mess from the cheap gloves I had bought, running with black dye from the rain exposure. But it was worth it. Damn well worth it. I was given a series of papers inside a see-through ziploc bag. I tried to wipe the water off my glasses as best as I could so I could see through it better. All I was looking for was a card. I didn't care about the details, just the final outcome. And there it was: "Alejandro A. Garcia-Flores... 10/14/2012... the bearer of this card has successfully completed a rider-skill training course that meets the requirements established by the Motorcycle's Safety Foundation..." I wiped some more rainwater off of my face and stood there for a bit. "You've just been baptized" said one of my instructors as he passed by. I smiled.

Cool stuff, Al! That's an awesome photo. I need to start hanging out with moms and pops more. EDIT: Looking at the picture closely, you certainly do take a lot after him, Al!

742+0 = 742 Disclaimer: ladies at work insist on setting em up on blind dates with relatives because "you need to find yourself a nice girl already, Alex." etc etc etc I'm actually considering the option. I just haven't been in love with anyone for the past three years or so. Sure, I've liked the ones I've dated, but nothing enough to say "this! this is the one!"

Returned from a 3-day vacation at Washington DC. First time there. I want to go back. So much stuff to see!

Torchlight was made by the guys who made Diablo I and II. I've been playing Torchlight non-stop. Highly addictive! And Torchlight II was released today... =D

Seems we always start a thread about some new headphone out there that doesn't fit into the usual Sennheiser, Stax, Grado, AKG, etc etc etc family. Why not keep it all in one place as these threads seem to not go beyond a few pages anyway? Just a thought (might be a dumbass thought, who knows). Anyway, I wanted to start off with this: http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/mozaex-bluwaves-7-1-hd-headphones-are-crazy-expensive-2012-08-1/

Matt, God bless you my friend. He sure blessed us with you.

Hmmm, this would be a nice way to spend a b-day... catching up with the crew. I'll have to check to see if anyone's out that week at work.
-
I'll take "What were they thinking" for $200, Alex.

Definitely INT, but last trait is borderline J or P. So INTJ or INTP but as of late have been more of a I Don't Give a Fuck.

Btw, most excellent first post, Jamie! Shows class and an understanding of what this site is about. If you stick around though, you will see there's more to us than just that.

As per Grawk, you are talking about the same creature. =P As for the Gandalf dance, I had never heard of it until today. Safe to say it is a meme?

more research led me to a centipede... um, just watch the video:

I've spent most of the evening reading up on these creatures. Here is an interesting article about a freaky event concerning one of these: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1165930/Barry-giant-sea-worm-discovered-aquarium-staff-mysterious-attacks-coral-reef.html
