  1. Wait, so you got nothing to amp your speakers with?
  2. Met up with Harold (a local head-fi dude), who was interested in buying my amp (negotiated price, since it was local). Spent most of the time discussing gear and hearing gear at his place. I'm terrible with names, but another person was there who also seemed pretty cool. Nice time overall!
  3. Please watch in its entirety.
  4. After the revelation from NekoAudio, I decided to look around for a disclaimer of some sort on the Headphonista site regarding this matter. They call it "Terms of Service" and is accessible only by clicking a very minute "ToS" link at the bottom of their page. ToSlink... HA! In my opinion, they should disclose this to every merchant upon arranging a review, and not leave it as a "hey, it's on our site... somewhere" type of deal, "...your fault if you didn't look for it." That's shady. Anyway, here is what it stipulates (BOO! ): Terms of Service Jan 17th, 2001 | By Daryl H. | Category: Review In no event will Headphonista Magazine be liable for any client or third party damages. This includes but is not limited to any lost profits, lost savings or other incidental, consequential or special damages arising as a result of our reviews. Due to a string of recent events we must advise that any product sent to Headphonista Magazine, immediately becomes property of the person conducting the review unless a written agreement or contractual terms have been agreed upon by both parties. To avoid any confusion, we recommend only sending products for review with contractual terms agreed upon and signed in writing by both parties. Similarly, we cannot be held liable for any damages incurred during transit or shipping, it is for this reason that we recommend always insuring your product through the postal service.
  5. Not iTunes, but I think it has everything you need: simply connect USB hard drives to it (no size limit), can connect to a network, brings a remote, all you need to do is add a screen. WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player ( WDBABX0000NBK ) (Netflix support) WD TV Live HD Media Player ( WDBAAN0000NBK ) (no Netflix support) I just got one (the non-Plus version) for $60 shipped (refurbished unit from Buy.com). Amazon also has some refurbs right now too, but even new units aren't that hard on the wallet. Audio - MP3, WAV/PCM/LPCM, WMA, AAC, FLAC, MKA, AIF/AIFF, OGG, Dolby Digital, DTS Playlist - PLS, M3U, WPL Plus you can play movies/view photos, which is a family-thing most people do anyway. Maybe this might be a solution?
  6. ^R2 D2 also has his hunting sight on something...
  7. But when you manage to get another couple in the bedroom, the last thing on their mind is light fixtures...
  8. Three vampires walk into a bar. The first turns to the bartender and says, "I vant a tall glass of blood." The bartender obliges. The second vampire turns to the bartender and says, "I vant one too." The bartender fills up a second glass and, smiling towards the third vampire, asks, "I assume you'll have what your friends are having, no?" The third vampire takes seat on his bar-stool, shakes his head, and replies, "no, no, no, I vill not. Tall glass of vater for me." The bartender obliges but, both confused and curious, comments "Water? I thought vampires only drank blood..." "Ve do! Ve do! But zis night," he says as he dangles a used tampon taken from his pocket, "zis night I vanted tea!"
  9. He'll probably have at least one finger rigged to open corked bottles on the fly.
  10. I finally saw that movie yesterday. Meh. I don't see what the big deal is other than the pretty CGI. Then again, I saw KickAss right before it. Now THAT'S entertainment!
  11. Buy.com refurb. $60
  12. A good large case is the best way for a first-timer. It gets rid of added fear of breaking something because your hands can't reach, etc etc, so you're just stuck figuring out how to connect the pieces (which, as you said, is a no-brainer). That said, I have always been a fan of Antec cases. By the way, if you want quieter fans, you might wish to look into the Noctua brand.
  13. This thread (along with yesternight's chat suggestions) have convinced me to build a mini-atx form factor pc. This will be the pc I take to Nicaragua in November for the family.
  14. Pretty straight-forward, eh, GPH? I always try to steer friends/family to custom builds because (1) you get more for the money and (2) I enjoy putting them together, opening up all the little boxes, running cables, etc. I see why those who get started on DIY audio get hooked! It's fun putting shit together (when it works at least!) Looking good there, GPH! How about some action shots (i.e. game screenshots)?
  15. The trip to Nicaragua was short (but I'll be going in November, have a week of vacation left for this year still!). The best thing is that I managed to get hold of a couple of baby pics and other stuff that I haven't seen in years. I haven't seen baby pics of myself since we left Nicaragua in 1988 (and the few my mom carried with her were lost in a river crossing). It's... impressionable, to say the least. My family is also not doing so well compared to my "lavish" lifestyle here. Main mission for next trip is to take a laptop and set up a Skype connection, and my brothers and I will be paying for the monthly net fee. Grandpa is 96 years old, and though he gave us all quite the scare, a visit from his son (my father) did much to raise his spirits. He actually got better while we were all there. I forgot how simple and humble life is for most people in Nicaragua.
  16. I was born here! Sidenote: I'm what is politically-incorrect defined as a "wetback" (the term doesn't bother me any, tbh). I crossed the border when I was 10 with my mom, 11year older brother, and 6 year old younger bro. My mom is my hero.
  17. When is the Gold version rumored to be released? EDIT: nevermind, got my answer, and frankly, I'd settle for the plus version anyway.
  18. Greetings from Nicaragua!
  19. In other words:
  20. Well, uploaded some high-rez pics of the logo/poster, did some more cleaning/up packing for Nicaragua trip (I'm all set), and now going to make sure that Balancing Act #29 that JUST arrived at my door is working before I leave tomorrow. What a good day it's been.
  21. Dan, wish you the best! Archosman, that is some scary shit... !!!
  22. I think I'm finished with the Head Case Comrade Poster.
  23. That Susie looks like she's known that bed for years! As for me, got things ready for the flight to Nicaragua (recreational Brazil trip is a no-go, family emergency). Also, I drew some more. =)
