Holy Crap! The New Stax Omega Looks fierce! (Stax SR-009)
screaming oranges replied to Jon L's topic in Headphones
I'm in, though, tbh, I would like to give Todd my business provided he could match the price, but word is still not in on that, eh? Also, I go to Nicaragua this Friday and return late on Saturday 9th. I won't be using a pc during my vacationing there, so unless we do it this time, I'm either out of a group buy or hopefully nothing happens till I come back... -
Happy b-day, Duggeeeeeeeeeeh!

And out of those new 100 products, one is the new Stax Omegatron! -
Have you heard this Smyth Research Realiser?
screaming oranges replied to Spychedelic Whale's topic in Headphones
From what I've read so far, I suppose the appeal lies in that you get the best of both worlds: the intimacy of the headphones with the "true-to-life" feel of the speakers. A monster hybrid that has all the strengths without the weaknesses, it seems. That sounds very appealing to me. -

I think you missed the part where I said I'm a lazy person... if someone gets this going, I'm in. -
Holy Crap! The New Stax Omega Looks fierce! (Stax SR-009)

The only reason why I am able to do this is not because I am rich but because about three weeks ago I got a $5K bonus for the macro programs that I wrote (supposedly because I take initiative and like helping out the team.... real reason is I was bored and am a lazy person who likes to simplify tedious crap). To be honest, I wouldn't want to pay more than $4500.00, though. Actually, part of that "only" reason is also because I have a BHSE. If I didn't have this amp I wouldn't go for the new cans. -

But if it's doable and from a reputable dealer, why the hell not? -

I guess since I said I would be in for a group buy I am #1? I'm in the same boat as Voltron: need schooling. -

I'd be in for a group buy. -
Finally found something: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/assistant/editorial_1189.shtm I think I will have to buy a few pelican cases to make sure these don't get broken. What I don't get though is the following: the duty-free sections are AFTER one has passed the checked baggage point. So.... how does this work??? QUOTE TSA: "With the exception of medications, any amount of liquid including alcohol greater than three ounces must be packed in your checked baggage. Liquids, including alcohol purchased after clearing the security checkpoint are permitted aboard aircraft." It's so ambiguous. Does the second sentence follow the guidelines of the preceding one or are the two separate rules?

Happy birth week!

...today a co-worker informed me that she had bought five bottles of Flor de Cana centenario duty-free at the airport in Nicaragua. When she arrived at the states, customs told her she could only take two and that the limit isn't an airline limit but TSA's limit (though she did say the guy was a complete douche). This seriously sucks, as I wanted to bring back at least four bottles (two Flor de Cana and, if found at airport duty-free, two Havana Club, if not, some other stuff). The thing is, I can't find anything on TSA's website concerning the limit of bottles, and my coworker admitted that just three weeks before her husband had returned from Nicaragua with five bottles without a problem. Anyone know anything about regulations with licquor? Maybe I just suck at searching...

How did STAX fare with the tsunami, come to think of it? I think releasing a new flagship is the least of their worries right now, no? -

Western Digital Passport Encryption
screaming oranges replied to Augsburger's topic in GoRedwings19's Computer Help Hotline
Speaking from experiences concerning security at my workplace, the issue here isn't whether it is adequate or not, but whether it's approved for use. The fact that the IT Dept hasn't approved it should be reason enough for anyone to not use the WD encryption since, if there were a breach of sensitive info somewhere, IT will wash their hands and say "we never approved use of this." I don't know enough about encryption to answer your question, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up on the possible legal issues that could ensue because of this. Someone I know got fired over something similar, even though no harm was done, but it was a violation of the employer's policy. In the end, that's what counts, regardless of efficiency, intention, etc. -
I almost bought that watch from Chronoshark too! But I was bidding my time to get a decent deal on a PS Audio Juice Bar II, which I just got off the 'gon.
