  5. Belated Happy Birthday!
  6. Mini flight of van winkle rye and sazerac 18. I love how sazerac is nice and smooth but the eye bite of the van winkle makes me feel like a man!
  7. Dew it Al! Matt, I'll be there on Hunahpu day waiting for some of your goodies
  8. Finally got hold of some Pliny. Thanks Mike!
  9. Finishing the remaining 2011 Abyss from last night. I put one of those lever-type wine stoppers that seals it ok but not perfectly. I guess the less-than-perfect seal let the beer breath overnight as tonight's glass tasted better with a lot less of that licorice taste. Tastes much better tonight, I can pick up a lot more coffee and hop notes which were missing last night. Still could use some age though.
  10. You can never have too many Imperial Stouts Al; I'm sure they travel well too No worries Bryan, whenever you get a chance. How's training going for you?
  11. Thanks Al, I took a long after-dinner nap and I'm feeling better. Agreed on the Abyss needing some age, I remember you mentioning the flavors felt closed-in and too integrated when you had it at City Beer; I'm glad I have a few more to age. Funny this is, the bottle specifically says "Best after 8/24/12" The KBS changed a little bit with age, it still has a lovely boozy smell but it was surprisingly easy to drink and not hot at all (at least for my tastes). The chocolate flavor did tame a little though and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Love it regardless though. Oohhhh, thanks for remininding me that I have one more of those and that I should get some more. You get yours from Luekens too? They have a sweet shipping deal to FL; a flat $15 for any order size.
  12. Double post
  13. 2011 Deschutes Abyss. Kinda underwhelmed, I'm getting a distinct licorice taste which I'm not a big fan of. Overall good but not really feeling the licorice finish. KBS is still king of imperial stouts in my book.
  14. Had a shitty day and felt under the weather so I'm treating myself to a KBS
  15. Pics of my beer or her?
  16. Found a new beer bar near me where an old lady friend works....had a Stone Ruination followed by a Bell's Two Hearted. Not sure if I'm more excited seeing her or discovering a new beer place
  17. Good job Fitz!
  18. Nice Mike! Don't worry, reinforcements are coming your way....
  19. Found this little tidbit about why the 2009 was sour: http://www.thebeerspot.com/forum/index.php?topic=6836.0 "From what I read, the chocolate they used didn't break down properly so there is a cocoa butter build up accumulating in the beer and can possibly go rancid." - Yuck
  20. Best advice of the year there Dan!
  21. Damn Al, I wish they had a City Beer around me. Makes me wanna crack open one of my 2011s
  22. Sazerac 18
  23. Congrats to you and your brother Shelly! Glad all is ok now.
