  4. Just finished my first full ride on Trainer Road - Fin. Let me tell you what, these measured power rides, ie Computrainer or Trainer Road are truly humbling. You think you're a nifty rider on the road, wait till you suck ass on the trainer. I already knew this from my Computrainer classes though. BTW, as much as I like riding on the drops especially when I'm warmed up and limber on the road, it's way different on the trainer. I tend to ride tops or hoods on the trainer and I don't nose ride my saddle as much as I do outside.
  5. I don't notice that. The fact that it happens within seconds makes it strange. Maybe your strap is too loose or not positioned correctly?

  7. On second thought, I think I'll start on the Novice Century Low Volume Plan today with the Fin workout. A Sufferfest will just shag my legs too much today.

Tried to pedal a few minutes just to try out the interface. I remember how much trainer rides suck after hard Crossfit days - we did Murph yesterday which is one of my least favorite workouts.
  9. Got my ANT+ dongle today from Amazon and just signed up for Trainer Road. I know I should do the FTP test first but since I have a close estimate of my FTP from my computrainer classes from a month ago (180) I'm probably gonna start with Sufferfest Angels or The Wretched after work today.
  10. Did a 40 mile Tour de Cure training ride training. Pretty uneventful with a decent but relaxed pace for the first 35 miles or so but the group fragmented with a few miles to go and I jumped to the front with the intention of just getting it over with but I walked into a testosterone fest with 10 or so people. I really thought I was gonna crack several times but I guess adrenaline is a beautiful thing.... we were doing 23-28 for around 4-6 miles (I don't remember as everything was a blur), rotating short pulls around 1/4 long and we eventually thinned it down to 5 riders. I was running around 170-185 bpm during that period - I've never held that high a HR for that long. I probably only had 1-2 more miles of that pace in me but I gotta admit, it was a lot of fun
  11. I'm sure it affects resistance but I typically turn it 2 turns, just enough to keep the back tire from slipping under power. Of course, this varies from tire to tire.
  12. Have you done ISLAGIATT before? I never have but the preview video is soooo cool that I've been tempted to buy it. When I realize it's 2 hours long, that temptation suddenly disappears.
  13. I believe the chart assumes a 165 lb. rider. I think I used the wrong term, I meant to imply that the Road Machine is a little off in it's power curve in relation to the power curve I personally experience on the road. I really didn't mean "road feel". In any case, I'm now considering a Wahoo Kickr but it's just so fucking expensive! Rode 43 miles solo in the cold this morning. Started around 45 degrees and ended around 57 degrees. I actually felt comfortable, my 93 cent walmart full finger gloves and DZ Nuts embrocation kept me warm. I did this ride with the intention of building base miles so I didn't ride until my legs fell off, I tried to keep it light-ish and just attacked my favorite parts of the ride within reason
  14. You can look up the power curve for your Rock and Roll to see approx how much power you're pushing at a particular speed. They say the Kinetics have an accurate road feel but I disagree. Per the chart, 20mph requires 258 watts - I'm pretty sure I can get to 20 mph with waaay less then 258 watts.
  15. Damn, how do you hit 180 bpm at 80 cadence? My legs would be blown by then! That being said, I can't stand staying below 85 for extended periods of time, especially under some effort. If I'm gonna grind, it's gotta be over 90 or so or else my legs will just give out.

  19. Did a tour de cure training ride today and it was around 37 degrees when it started. While I was overall cold everything was acceptable except my hands and toes which were numb. Next bike related purchase, full finger gloves and toe covers.

  23. IMO Chris, I would go with the C24s. Light like you want and has a great track record of being stiff enough for 180+ folks. The only downside is it doesn't match your otherwise SRAM bike but I think that is rather trivial in the grand scheme of things. Of course, just my opinion
