  1. Actually if I had my way, I would have added the beer- prefix.

  3. Oh yeah I definitely rode more smart than strong since it was my first century. Our team was very organized but we kept on attracting wheel suckers who would just jump in, create small gaps just to wait for their homies. Very annoying but a lot of them were big riders so I decided to just follow the biggest wheels I can that weren't getting gapped. I didn't pull as much as I usually do but that was by design. I'm starting to learn that the key to riding distances that may be beyond your means is to use your head in making up the shortcomings in condition. I was by no means the strongest rider in my group but the energy I saved in the first 70 miles really helped me in the end. Feels really good when you're part of a group that slowly gets splintered but make it to the end
  4. Successfully did my first century yesterday (102 mile actually) at 18.5 mph average!!! It was brutal with 15-25 mph winds almost all day; I'm really glad I survived. In fact, I soloed home ahead of my team as we had a straight headwind for the last 8-10 which blew apart the group into a million pieces. The key was following the biggest riders I could find Thanks again for everyone who has supported me both by donations and by words of encouragement! Feels really good to not only complete my first century but to help a worthy cause. Cheers gang!
  5. X3. Since I switched to dailies, I don't see any reason for me to look into LASIK, at least for now.
  6. Justin, those folks are my kind of people! The one thing I really dislike about group rides is how early they start. I really don't understand why people are so allergic to starting rides after 8am. To me, waking up early is more ball breaking than riding in 95 degree weather.
  7. I'm guilty of riding carbon wheels in shitty weather here. I don't have a nice set of alloys plus I don't want to mess around having to change and adjust brake pads every time I switch. Wet weather braking on carbon is not as good but I just use that as a reason to stay sharp and pay more attention. If they wear out quicker, so be it
  8. I respect why people say "too nice to ride" but personally I would never subscribe to this mentality. If I got a top of the line frame, I would ride it the same way is ride my Roubaix, thru rain, shitty conditions and after the new toy syndrome has faded, not wash it as often as I really should. I'm not gonna drop 4-6 grand on a bike that I'm not gonna ride just because it sucks outside. JMO.
  9. Happy Birthday!
  10. Which model do you have, Chris? Is it easy to tilt the bike up and down?
  11. 150 is fine with me, I'm torn between the feedback and the park ones. I like the features of the feedback but like the forward facing legs of the park
  12. Same here. In fact, there were a few middle episodes I didn't enjoy as much as the last one.
  13. Awesome, Brent! Nate, what work stand do you have there? Looking for a cheapish one so that I can clean my bike easier in the apartment hallway.
  14. Happy Birthday Fitz!
  15. What Nate said, fellas!
  16. Make it 4. I have almost 1,000 this year
  17. This is on my radar but 125 miles with a shitload of climbing seems too ambitious this time of year to be honest. Any interest in the metric?
  18. That sucks, I hope you get it resolved quickly.
  19. Color me interested!
  20. Did Sufferfest ISLAGIATT last night, this time at 100% instead of 90% the first time I did it. I buried myself but the 2 hours flew by quicker that I expected. Surprisingly my legs feel ok today, I might try Blender tonight then off to recovery weekend pounding beers and shitty food
  21. Thanks Gene, Todd and Nate! I just checked my fundraising progress today and it's shaping up nicely. Thanks to everyone for the support!
  22. I don't think that scar is very visible or large, which I think is a good thing. Does it still hurt?
  23. Hope all goes well, John. Sounds like it will though!
  24. Hope all goes well, John. Sounds like it will though!
  25. Thanks again for everyone's generous donations! Training has been going really well and I think I will go for the century this year I'm skipping this weekend's long training to hang out for Hunahpu's day but I think I can get some more training indoors or solo outside.
