  1. Connecting outside Japan the max speed I could d/l at was 8MB/sec with a typical speed more like 6MB/sec; downloading within Japan on the other hand was easily 15MB/sec or more depending on server. Routing wise I didn't have too much of issue in my experience. Total cost for the connection was about $80 a month.
  2. Shhhhh, those burn-in fanatics don't know that.
  3. Maybe he somehow managed to plug it in backwards and caused the one way burn-in to be ruined?
  4. The proportions are clearly all wrong, that amp would never fit comfortably anywhere! It's just toooo loooooooooong.
  5. Pasted it into word to find out the wordcount: 8,308 and about 15 pages long. Wow.
  6. I heard everything is better with red vodka, is that true?
  7. Yes they have heatsinks but I think I was picking up the heat off the tubes; pointing it up close it shows ~145.
  8. Tinkering with my IR thermometer is showing 180-ish on Q2L/R, they sure are toasty.
  9. I used the 4.7uf SA's from Madisound, they're 45.6mm long so they just barely fit, though you won't be able to sit them flush with the board as the cap itself rests against the leads. You can see the size in my picture a couple of posts up. Kevin, thanks, I got those after I noticed nothing was coming out from the jack. I'm just full of fail today. It's playing music now and it sounds great
  10. Didn't get that memo..... Thanks Kevin! Tubes are now lit up! Sometimes it's the simplest things.
  11. Yup, fuse is in there and voltage in is 121V; the pins on the other side of the transformer read ~26V
  12. Measuring between the G and B+ points results in 1.58V, so it's obvious I screwed up somewhere. I've taken some pictures in case my mistake is painfully obvious. I'm going to go back through the part list and try to find out what I messed up on. I guess I can be the "complete noob" prototype test case.
  13. Last parts are in, any particular sanity checks to do prior to power on?
  14. Those heatsinks are nice, where'd you get them?
  15. When he likes something, he REALLY LIKES it. Got my piece of Schiit Asgard today, chuckled when I noticed the included rca to mini cable was a Monoprice cable. Edit: Wow, people weren't joking about the bottom getting hot. The hottest spot on the bottom of the amp is at 115F after being on for about 20 min.
  16. Someone compared the Asgard to a M3? o.O
  17. USPS attempted to deliver but I was at work To me the amp is a nice simple and compact amp at a reasonable price point. Haven't really read the thread over there too in-depth, but it seems like some folks are REALLY excited about it. Cult-like, perhaps? Looking forward to giving the amp a listen; I think it'll be interesting to compare against my soon to be built CKKIII/M3/L'es torpedo amps.
  18. I think part of it is the standard FOTM effect
  19. The switch fits just fine on the pcb, I just wanted to note that the cutout shape was different than the cutout on the faceplate drawing. As for the color, I just wanted to put the info out there in case someone was averse to red switches Ahhh, I see now. I didn't realize the heatsink was meant to be mounted to the top of the case. I have a rudimentary mini-mill with my proxxon drill stand + compound table, but I still need to find out what's needed to clamp parts to the table and the proper way to clamp. It's still nothing compared to Nate's machine
  20. In case anyone else went with the switch that I looked up, it has a different cutout shape than the one pictured in the end panel drawing. The plastic is also bright red. Thanks for the info WRT the heatsink, I was looking at the heatsink and the PT, wondering how to get a good thermal connection between the two In any case I'll be glad if
