  1. Both Nikon and Canon blow due to lack of at least APS-C size sensor mirrorless cameras. Relying on Canon for this shot today.. IMG_8446ptx by drjlo1, on Flickr
  2. I've gone bankrupt with just one lens system (Canon), so I can't imagine dealing with 2 lens systems Anyways, still loving monochrome. IMG_8104PTXbw3 by drjlo1, on Flickr
  3. Wow! Assuming the Weiss USB input is also asynchronous (like its firewire) and well-executed, the new Weiss DAC202 will be a good platform to compare apples to apples as far as USB vs. Firewire for audio quality. I have been listening to the DAC202 (firewire only) and have been wondering this very same question myself..

  7. "Pricing : around 1300€ including the 35mm lens." I sure hope this is closer to the truth.
  8. I want Nikon to release D800 just as badly, mainly because I'm convinced Canon will not announce 5D Mk3 until D800 is at least announced.
  9. Shutter is already at 1/2500, and in avail light, in order to have decent depth of field (higher F/Stop), ISO had to be raised to get correct exposure. I have been experimenting with several DIY designs for Macro flash, but it looks like I may have to bite the bullet and get a true ring flash for certain shots. Looking at a couple of <$150 options from Bower(same as Phoenix), Vivitar, and Opteka, etc, but all have some reports of early failure as well as happy users. Dont' want to spend the Canon ring flash price...yet.

  17. Canon 70-200 f2.8 II arrived. This baby is huge and heavy as expected, and I am very happy to report that it works GREAT with Kenko C-AF 1.4X Teleplus Pro 300 extender, yielding very sharp photo's at effective 448 mm reach on crop body. The 4-Stop IS really works because I can get sharper photo's at 200mm with IS in dim indoors compared to non-IS 135mm L. he Canon 70-200 f2.8 II by drjlo1, on Flickr Canon 70-200 f2.8 II by drjlo1, on Flickr
  18. LOL. One could also recable the HD800 with small-AWG silver cable at the same time to drive the point home
  19. All right, the 70-200 mkii will be here on 12/5 (free shipping). What would be the least expensive ballhead with minimal slippage with the 70-200mm mkII plus 5d mkii (or iii)? Looking at the Giottos MH1000-652 for $100 http://www.amazon.com/Giottos-MH-1000-Independent-Panning-Release/dp/B000I6UV1Y/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1234767547&sr=8-1
  20. There is $300 instant Canon rebate going on for the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 Mk II, going at $2074 shipped at Amazon for example. shouldn't, wouldn't, can't, too big, too heavy, too expensive... **EDIT** Oh, Snap! I just found a better deal on the 70-200 MkII with $400 instant rebate. I shouldn't, but this is too good a deal to pass up, especially since I expect I can get more $ for this lens later on the used market. Ordered one! http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&SID=227683&sku=832149&AID=10605978&PID=404255&is=USA&A=details&Q=
  21. I enjoy these video schticks as funny breaks, but Kai isn't exactly very systematic or quantatative in his evaluations. For example, the 28 f/1.8 review really should have at least mentioned the Canon 35 f/2 as a cheaper, sharper alternative..
  22. Brilliant work!

  24. "Messed up" is kind of strong words, but I do think the guys who did the voicing at Stax were likely a little older with probable high-frequency hearing loss, which is no problem since the SR-009 should continue to sound better and better as the owner ages more and more
  25. LOVE the 135L(middle one in photo), and such a bargain in the L land, too. Wish Canon would make a new 50L just as good as 135L and keep the prices down by not going crazy on the F number.. IMG_5617bW by drjlo1, on Flickr
