    New Puppy

Freddy used to bark at leaves and twigs. I miss that. Once his shadow moved due to changing lights and he attacked it. I miss that too. As long as you can stop him, and he does not bark the whole fucking time there is another dog on the block (like my neighbors dogs) I don't think anyone will really care.
  5. The new seatpost for my Brompton came. It is much longer. Yaay!
  6. LINK to very funny Burrito rant
  7. My only concern would be if you already have a lot of DX lenses. But its really just an excuse to upgrade them too.

I think he is very fluffy over a small body.

    New Puppy

He looks so cute! I cant wait to hear all about him.
  10. I have always been drawn to the eletraprintish* design of a low-to-mid power op amp (like 5-10w) driving a 32:600ohm transformer feeding the grid of a DHT tube. I am biased towards push-pull so 2 DHTs in my case, but to each his own. * If this is not an electraprint design I am sorry and welcome correction.
  11. Why should I build this instead of a Bijou?
  12. I one time found myself in a similar situation to you, with a set of 'stat headphones but no amp(s). Instead of my headphones singing to me, I sang to them. When I got an amp they did not forget it and sang to me very lovelyly. Buy whatever you want/can find quickly as a holdover, and get a BHSE when you can. Not joking.
  13. This. 116=68. it skipped 116
  14. Why not 68? I understand why it *could* be 79 (7 in "ten's", 7+1+1=9 in "ones"), but I think it could also be 68 - each number on the left goes up by 1 where each number on the right goes up by 11. I wonder if this puzzle was designed to cause conflict by having 2 equally valid answers and making/letting the subject think there is only one. 2 subjects get different answers and duke it out... It is also possible that only 20% of the people doing the puzzle will give BOTH answers. Is there a reason it is not 68 for the reason I gave?
  15. The seatpost on my Brompton is a bit too short. I have known this from day one, but kept telling myself "no, it wont matter." I have mostly been riding 20-25miles at a time and have not experienced any real pain, just a nagging feeling that things could be better, but nothing annoying enough to act on. Last night I rode 45miles (from my office in Mahwah NJ to Nechama's apartment in Brooklyn). It fucking matters. I am trying to decide between the "long" seatpost which would make the bike a bit bigger when folded and the 2-section seatpost which is much more expensive. While typing this Nechama texted me to say that she ordered the long post. That made that decision easy.
  16. [joke] Its a shame its not balanced, I have a hard time believing Pete would stoop so low as to build something that looks really pretty, and knowing what it is based on probably sounds realllllly nice with the HD800 without conforming to non-tech-peoples' preconceived notions. [/joke] Photographer was not perfectly squared up with the amp and we have perspective distortion. The reason the ""45* view" shot works so well for so many things is that it works from about 30-60*. Just get in that general area and fire. perfectly straight shots of things with hard lines need to be perfectly straight, like within a few degrees.
  17. I want a brighter dynolight for the Brompton. The bike came with a Lumotec Lyt-Bn, which was an apparently free upgrade from the halogen lamp I thought I was getting. This lamp may actually be less expensive than the halogen, and I really like the range (distance) but find it a bit too narrow. There are a few paths on my way home from work that the light just barely doesn't go edge to edge on. Not being able to see the edge of the path freaks me out. Now debating between expensive German lights or cheap knock offs from who knows where. Probably going with a nice German lamp. Just rambling out loud.
  18. Happy Birthday Jim!
  19. Someone stole one of Nechama's employees cyclo-cross racing bike the other day. I don't really follow any of the bike message boards, and I know this is an insanely long shot, but if anyone comes across it in their travels LMK. The rundown: Ritte Van Vladdnderen Carbon Crossberg Size Medium SRAM 10spd Mavic rims with tubeless tires Powertap g3 rear wheel Blue Bartape
  20. Happy Birthday Stretch!
  21. After a very fun long weekend in Montreal I am thinking of the very distant possibility of riding from Brussels to Paris with Nechama.
  22. Happy Birthday Deepak!
  23. My money is on it being something that can be found with a bit of digging about on the web. Get a screw-checking tool and see what it is. If all else fails take your good screw to a machine shop and ask them to ID it. Explain your plight and slip the guy enough cash to buy a cheeseburger. If it is a "slightly more obscure" part: smallparts.com is another good supplier for parts that follow really obscure standards.
  24. Happy Birthday!
