  1. How did this end up working out anyway? I'm very curious.

  3. Depends on what you're doing. Photoshop is for image editing. You can do layers, draw penises, etc.. while Lightroom is for photo editing and archiving like Picasa 3; Brightness, contrast, white balance, saturation, etc... If you're a casual shooter, you will just need Lightroom. If you plan on doing serious editing, then you'll also need Photoshop.
  4. It's renewed for its 2nd season. Each season will cover a book. HBO is usually good about keeping good series running regardless of rating.
  5. Barack! You're 40 minutes late. I didn't elect you to waste my time.
  6. It sucks that Three Floyds doesn't make it out of the Chicago area because the demand is too great. We don't get any of it in central IL.
  7. Yes, it's possible with skill. However, more often than not, more than 1 swing was necessary. The same is true with an axe.
  8. It's hard to make dirt and pots into a present. It's nice to get her something that she'll be happy with for a long time but more importantly, it's more important to get something she'll be happy with right now. What you suggested looks good and seems to work decently. She'll be happy that you put in the thought regardless of how it turns out in the long run. Just go with that.
  9. Shouldn't HighLife know something about this?
  10. Happy birthday. Hope you have a good one!
  11. There's a 14 min preview on hbo. It looks badass.
  12. Color me impressed. That last one is just.. wrong.
  13. Leave the 2 long lenses at home. You wouldn't touch them anyway. 50mm for museums. Zooms for monuments.
  14. I feel like the 'gang' gets bigger by the minute. Edit: Preemptive strike on the dick joke.
  15. I'd have to see it to believe it.
  16. If I were you, I'd spend the money elsewhere. The 17-55mm 2.8 IS is just a little more and is excellent optically and far better for "normal" photography. It depends on what you're shooting, but most people don't get too much use out of the 70-200mm. However, this is a EF-S lens so it won't work on a full frame body. That is a problem if you plan on upgrading. That being said, it is in great demand and you should be able to sell it easily without taking more than a 20% hit.
  17. Which lens are you using? It seems a bit soft (perhaps due to the aperture). Quite nice color under those non-ideal lighting conditions.
  18. You could probably do with a ringflash and better lighting first.

  20. For the 7d and above owners and videographers: http://www.canonrumors.com/2011/02/canon-320ex-270ex-ii-announced/#more-5882 The new 270EX II and 320EX II look great. Both act as wireless slave and the 320EX II has a video light.
  21. I believe this is the first time Northwestern has cancelled classes since 1975 so I think champagne is appropriate.
  22. Whatever job that you have that allows you to take awesome pics like that, I want it. Is that lens flare on Atlas?
  23. Being outside and not having to worry about light, just stop down the aperture to as low as you can go while maintaining a decent shutter speed. In windy conditions, I like to keep it about 1/320. Don't go too much past f/16 because you'll end up with soft pics due to diffraction effects unless you have that Pentax lens.
  24. Yep, it's the 17-40. It's on my 7d more than any other lens.
  25. Trappistes Rochefort 10 Unbelievably good.
