  1. Congrats!!!
  2. Happity birthday!
  3. You can get them in wood, but it looks like the chair will be a big problem given the woofer placement in the towers: link
  4. PSB, Paradigm... if we're going to discuss Canadian speaker makers, I'm going to shout out Energy as well. I'm not sure about your desired pricepoint, but the Veritas towers sound amazing.
  5. Happy birthday Colin! Hope it rocks.
  6. Hey David, welcome to the party! Read the welcome PM, and don't get too upset if people start throwing beer bottles at you. I hope you stick around.
  7. As long as it's not falsely advertised as a really big one, a little one can provide a lot of enjoyment, absolutely.
  8. Happy birthday! May your cake be tasty and your wood polished.
  9. Happy birthday!
  10. Mister, you have yourself a deal. I intend to study the techniques you employ to keep parrots from chewing on headphone cables.
  11. "In the flesh" was not meant to be taken literally, Wayne, as talented as I'm sure you would be if I were there.
  12. You probably won't have to bide your time for too long. I suppose I'm still relatively new, so I can share my story. I was googling the head-fier "mitchb", trying to figure out how I could mess with him after reading this thread on the other forum. I found a parallel thread relating to the situation on this forum, lurked for a long while out of fear, finally registered, got told off by Dusty, persevered, really enjoyed mostly reading, and eventually got told off less and less until Dan let me into the back room. I'm very happy to be here, especially due to all the penis jokes. My wife is hoping to schedule a road trip to California one of these days, so I might actually get to meet some of you in the flesh at some point.
  13. Me too. In conservation biology you often don't get a sample size big enough to have p < 0.05, but the consequences of dismissing the results can be dire when managing threatened species.
  14. Happy birthday!
  15. I would also suggest reading this paper: The insignificance of statistical significance testing.
  16. p = 0.051 = "Shit, I should have done a power analysis before data collection!" I haven't read the Burnam and Anderson book entirely, but I'm probably the only one studying biology who hasn't - seems that way sometimes anyway. Still, it all depends on the study. Some of the most interesting stories in biology come down to a simple "does this have an effect or not?" question, where traditional hypothesis testing is entirely appropriate. I do, however, agree with morphsci's point about stating the p-value, rather than just stating that it was > or < 0.05.
  17. That's no fun. I had a ruptured eardrum due to an infection last year, and my symptoms were similar (less blood, more pus in my case). It took a couple months to get hearing back to normal, and in the meantime I was quite grouchy. I hope your recovery is speedy and full.
  18. Looks like a sweet bike. I've been learning how to use R statistical software, and I had a wee breakthrough today with some analysis of my Master's project data. I feel like celebrating, though I now have to tweak the graphs and tables I've made so that I can start writing about them.
  19. Drink. Feck. Arse. Girls.

  20. They may be lacking in size, but their aurifice penetration is among the best. You may wish to pair them with the Deep Dhik Bone Conductor personal subwoofer. Edit: Dammit, Fitz beat me to it.
  21. As long as you selected the woody option when you ordered them, you should be well satisfied.
  22. I want the upconverting oversampling dhik dac.
  23. Ecclesand's Law: as portability of amp approaches infinity, loss of source material due to mp3 conversion approaches 0. I'll be curious to find out if the Fii0 E11 is portable enough to achieve this. Please report back.
