  1. I'm really enjoying this one. A man leaves his family to live in the woods after his father dies, kills a cow moose for food, and befriends her calf. Dry hilarity ensues.
  2. Happy birthday!
  3. Happy birthday, Slowerman! Have a great one.
  4. I'm not sure how, but yes. Yes it can.
  5. I'm starting to run wire for a baseboard heater. Ripped apart an old piece of ducting and found what appears to be a small amount of asbestos paper surrounding it. Protective breathing apparatus on, air filter on, cursing well underway... Sometimes I wish we'd built a new house instead of signing up for all these renovations. Anyone want to buy a small quantity of asbestos?
  6. Happy birthday Jacob!
  7. Happy birthday!!
  8. Double thread start post.
  9. Welcome to the dirty thirties! Hope you're having a good one.
  10. Happy birthday!
  11. ESP-950 or basic Stax Lambda system?

  12. Thanks guys - it was actually a great day. As long as they don't last a really long time, I find power outages very relaxing. I decided to skip work and go in tomorrow instead (I only work 3 days/week), since the power was out across the whole region and I can't do much in the office without the computer. So, we (my family) went to Brandon (~1 hr drive, city of ~40,000, regional hub) and went swimming, shopping, and dining with some other friends who met us there. Good times! Oh, and I should mention that the power was back on when we got home.
  13. The power's been off for 3 hours here. This, with -20C temperatures, makes me uber glad to heat the house with wood.
  14. Merry belated everyone! My kids were crazy yesterday, as expected. Got to spend lots of time with family and friends, and finished the day up with board games at our house. It was -30C when I went to bed.
  15. Hope you guys have a great day! :beerchug:
  16. Happy birthday Ken! Hope it's a great one!
  17. Keep us posted. Looks like it might be a decent studio/office 'phone.
  18. And here is the 2013 lineup, so far. As usual, pretty stellar. http://www.bluegrass.com/telluride/lineup.html
  19. I miss XP. My newish notebook has Win 7, and it's slower to do most tasks than my old WinXP laptop, because the OS is so bloated.
  20. Happy birthday! Hope it was a good 'un!
  21. We doan need no steenkeeng reviews.
  22. The Canadian solution (from http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-98-209/page-2.html#h-3 ): STORAGE OF NON-RESTRICTED FIREARMS 5. (1) An individual may store a non-restricted firearm only if (a) it is unloaded; (b) it is (i) rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device, (ii) rendered inoperable by the removal of the bolt or bolt-carrier, or (iii) stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into; and (c) it is not readily accessible to ammunition, unless the ammunition is stored, together with or separately from the firearm, in a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into. (2) Paragraph (1)(b) does not apply to any individual who stores a non-restricted firearm temporarily if the individual reasonably requires it for the control of predators or other animals in a place where it may be discharged in accordance with all applicable Acts of Parliament and of the legislature of a province, regulations made under such Acts, and municipal by-laws. (3) Paragraphs (1)(b) and (c) do not apply to an individual who stores a non-restricted firearm in a location that is in a remote wilderness area that is not subject to any visible or otherwise reasonably ascertainable use incompatible with hunting.
  23. Richard Dawkins chimes in, on his foundation's official facebook page: There's certainly a strong correlation between gun control and gun violence, according to these stats - maybe a better way to say that is that the US is a clear outlier in terms of both gun control and gun violence rates. Of course, all the other countries cited are far more socialist with regard to health care - the 'S' word is repugnant to the American voters, but it removes the financial barrier to accessing mental health services for a lot of people. In a country like the US, where you have nearly exclusively private medical services, it seems obvious that mental health care will be among the most difficult to get, given that the severely mentally ill are going to be disproportionately unable to work jobs with medical benefits.
