XP because that's the disc I have in the house. The computer was gifted to me on the condition that I completely wipe the hard drive, and the original owner didn't have the OS disc to give me. Realistically, I'm going to be too busy with kids and other stuff to use Reaper to its full potential, but if I can record my drums and a few other things, and add some sequenced tracks once in awhile I'll be happy. I've got an M-Audio Delta 1010, which I've had for 12 years or so, as my ADC.

Nice wheels, Steve. Dusty, my wife has been using a neti pot for her allergies, and now she mainly complains about the grossness of using a neti pot, rather than her sinuses. Me: I harvested buckets and buckets of humus from the composting toilet. I'm glad we went with a Clivus brand unit, even though it was twice the price of any of its competitors. It just smelled like soil coming out. I'll leave it outside to cure in the sun for a few months, and till it into the garden in the fall.

It's been beautiful in Manitoba. The mosquitoes think so too.

I'm confused. I get the part about it being a good phono pre, and I get the USB digital recording application, but the part where they suggest plugging the ADC directly into a DAC? Why insert an ADC and DAC into an analogue chain? Am I ignorant about something important here?

I tried a kale smoothie from a friend's blender once. It was stringy. I suspect that fresh spinach would be less problematic. Will attempt to test this and report back.

I know nothing of Vitamix. We got an Oster because of the all-metal-drive thing, and because it's much cheaper than a Vitamix. It works fine at six years old. We tend to keep lots of frozen fruit around. Today's smoothie: Pineapple chunks, one banana, mango slices, strawberries, and raspberries (all frozen) Equal parts Tropicana OJ and So Nice vanilla soy milk A splash of cream A dollop of vanilla yogurt It was a hit with the one kid in my house who likes smoothies. I thought it was very good too, though if I made it again I'd go with either a fresh banana or just half a frozen one.

Incredible. My 5 year-old is getting his first trick bike tomorrow, after weeks of watching kids at the local bike/skate park and saying "I could do that". I'm going to show him that video.

Hope you feel better soon. I got the varicella vaccine last year (never had chickenpox; figured I'd better get the shot now that some hippie friends have unvaccinated kids) and had no reaction. It's been awhile since my last tetanus booster - can't recall if I reacted last time. I haven't been spending much time on here lately. I've been working away on getting the vegetable garden planted and doing various home reno jobs.
