  1. We'll usually get down to -40, or near enough, at least once per year. Hence my pyromania.
  2. We have about 8 inches on the ground, and it's really fucking cold. -25 to -32 Celsius in the mornings for the last week, and it's supposed to continue for another week.
  3. Eleanor's method of mourning for Ozzy turned out to be continuous searching for puppy classifieds. This litter was quite close to us, and they were trying to get the pups cleared out fast because it's been very cold and the barn they're living in isn't heated. So far he's settling in really well, and hasn't had any accidents in the house. Our eldest dog (an asshole, but he's our asshole) isn't too pleased though. I don't know; it's tough to beat his current title... That's pretty crazy about the rotten wall. I once tore down a garage that turned out to be standing up only by virtue of the fact that it was nailed to a fence. Removed the nails fastening it to the fence, and timber!
  4. Picked up a 6.5 week-old border collie. We're calling him Garmr.
  5. Happy birthday, Todd!
  6. Hope you're having a good one!
  7. Amazing how quickly they grow. Anyone want a cockatiel?
  8. "Grado. Drink till it sounds good."
  9. Thanks for the info.
  10. It sure is cold out there, yessir.

  11. Question for you veterans, as this will (hopefully) be my first big audio meet/expo and I'm ignorant about various things: if I come with full pockets, can I expect, for example, Madisound to sell off some speaker kits at special Axpona prices? I'm from Manitoba. We live for bargains.
  12. Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. We're sad, but coping well. Stay tuned for puppy photos - it never takes us long to get back on the horse.
  13. Our dog Ozzy just died in our house tonight. He was getting pretty close to twelve, and his health had been sharply declining, so despite the sadness of the situation, we're happy that he didn't hang on to the point of needing euthanasia. We're also happy that, anticipating this, we dug his hole a month ago, before the ground froze. He was one awesome dog, completely irreplaceable. Chilling out: Telling the cat to leave his budgies alone: Holding onto a stick with enough force that I can spin him around and lift him off the ground: And, taking me for a sprint around the block on my bike, back when we lived in Edmonton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q8Of0DxT34 Farewell, good buddy.
  14. Happy belated, Gene!
  15. Happy birthday, Haj!
  16. Happy American Thanksgiving, you Americans you.
  17. Happy birthday, Bryan!
  18. When we buried my grandmother's ashes last summer, my second-born, three years old at the time, could not stay out of the hole. He was having so much fun playing in it. It was awesome, really put things in perspective.
  19. He's had pretty severe gut issues for the last week, and the vet won't prescribe steroids because they irritate the stomach lining. We're just going to give him boiled beef and rice, because it's easier to swallow than what he usually eats. He's on a narcotic for pain, now, but he seems to be having more and more trouble with respiration, noticeable even between yesterday and today - maybe his lymph nodes are enlarging to the point that they're impacting his trachea and esophagus, I don't know.
  20. Thanks guys. I'm glad I'm into the slow season at work, because I'm not getting much done here.
  21. We got some bad news from the veterinarian yesterday. Our oldest dog, Ozzy, is probably going to be checking out within a few weeks, due to metastasis of a clear-cell carcinoma we had removed last year. He's past 11 years old, and he's had a good run, but it's going to be hard watching his final decline. We always figured he'd die by chasing a tennis ball off a cliff. His energy has declined a lot over the last couple of months, and today his appetite is way down, which has never happened in his life. Sucks.

    CHESS

I love playing chess, but I'm not very good at it.
  23. Welcome. Sorry about your thin skin.
  24. Six days later. Amazing how fast they grow.
  25. Happy belateds, folks!
