Sony's arrived today. They need new pads (knew about this when I bought them; kuboTEN FTW) and I had to get out the sewing kit and fix the headband (didn't know about this but no biggie). The headband is still slightly loose and it would be nice to replace it but really isn't needed. They are some of the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn. Started out with Beck/Sea Change (MoFI) and then switched to my goto work music Bach Oster-Oratorium (harmonia mundi). Soundstage is great. They came alive with the Bach. Enjoying them so far...

Anyone have any experience with the Bryston 60R? Bryston B60R: AudiogoN ForSale: Bryston B60R (seller is asking too much IMO) Might be a good piece to consider. You'd have an amp/headphone amp with remote. That would leave a decent amount for speakers.

I don't like how they look but they work and they were free

Well my A5's came in. Like them so far but I knew right away I had to get them off the desk. Here is my current solution:

I've been looking for a while and the customer appreciation sale they are running now ($50 of of every $250) helped me pull the trigger. I was also looking for something that would have enough room for my PDA & ESW10 I just loaded it up. So nice.

Don't know if these are still available: http://www.head-case.org/forums/audio-gear-sale/5996-forsale-elsewhere-120.html#post271516 I passed on them and I'll probably regret it

My Snow Leopard copy is on the way Also, Audioengine A5s

Do the Quads have an auto shut-off? Or is the switch the only option?

Quad 12LAs (dimensions off Amazon.com) 16x8x12 Micropod SE Actives (manuf specs; I assume this is without the legs) 6.5x5x5

Evidently I can't read

Anyone heard the Scandyna Micropod SE Actives? The Audioengine A5s are at the top of my list but I'm keeping an open mind I'm guessing a sub will eventually be needed with either choice. Unfortunately my desk space is a premium or else I would have jumped on the Qual 12LA's that just popped up on the 'gon

Brady, I saw the DS1's on the site and assumed they would fit. I had not compared the dimensions of the A5 to the stands yet. Any idea when the DS2 might be released? Thanks for the info and welcome to Head-case! -Matt

Thanks. The MoPADs look interesting but are a little big. I may just pull the trigger on the DS1's and report back.
-
I'm hoping to pick up a pair of A5s soon but due to my desk arrangement I can only handle stands with about a 4 inch rise max. I just noticed these stands on the Audioengine site. Audioengine DS1 Anyone try them out or something similar? I know ideally I should get the speakers up higher but angled like this may be my best option.

I've never heard a y1 or the PS Audio. I'm picking up a pico/DAC combo though so I'm not leaving the pico family. The pico sounds very close to my Arcam CD36, which I guess it should since I believe they use the same dac chip. -

Yeah if you have any interest in a pico DAC let me know. I'm getting ready to start a sell-off -
ESW10's, should have never sold my first pair

I can get the tracker on my iPhone, work firewall won't allow it. iPhone FTW

I don't have any experience with Red but it should be fine. I have an older Dream (aluminum with clover shaped tubing) with DA 10. I can't imagine ever selling/upgrading. It climbs and descends extremely well. I'm currently rolling on DA hubs with DT Swiss RR 1.1 rims. Light and strong but my next upgrade will probably be some wheels, maybe Zipps. Before the Dream I had a carbon Look that I raced on but it flexed too much for me.

Congrats! Can't go wrong with Dura Ace or the Zipps. Happy riding when you get it.
