  1. I am not in the market for a netbook and have no desire for any self delusion. Based on the benchmarks Ive seen, it would be roughly equivalent to a basic notebook for basic computing. Plus the new chipset is capable of HD video(not that the stellar resolution of the screens would support it).
  2. In absolutes (frequency to frequency) it tests slower, but in its current iterations, when compared with the Ms on the market, it should be roughly equivalent for basic computing.
  3. From what I've read, the Atom processor falls between the Celeron and Dual Core in terms of performance.
  4. I considered something similar for my setup. Plus, you can always crack it open and solder in moar BGs.
  5. I think you made a smart/good decision. The Shure 530s are good and I think they will serve you well. Plus they have resell value and a great company backing them.
  6. I'm gonna try for this one.
  7. My 2 cents is to use this as an opportunity to try something outside the Grado family and maybe even a compliment can. But then again, the MS2i with flats is pretty awesome by Grado standards.
  8. I am new here and only know most of you in passing, but I have some cash in PP account. Let me know.
  9. Again, my poor attempt at some humor injection. I was hinting at the irony in the constructive conversation occuring here that seems to have escaped SP.
  10. can't we all just get along?
  11. Why can't something be fun and reference? That one escapes me. Give me technically accomplished fun without the bricks. I never purchased a SP amp, mainly because of my "fear" of tubes. I owned the MAD Ear for bit and even rolled a few tubes. I am at a loss for words when I look at those pictures. I get mad and its not my amp.
  12. Well, the 600s will def be the yin to the DT990 yang. It will be a wonderful contrast and probably very informative.
  13. Also the cheaper and DIY cables cannot handle the higher "1s" and they only let the "0s" through("0s" are lighter than "1s"). The slow transmissions of "1s" can be alleviated with a special "hydro-crystallization" treatment that increases cable bandwidth and makes the music seem quicker, cleaner. IE, the "1s" have the space to travel down the cable along with the "0s". Jeez, I thought HC was full of the bright ones and this kind of stuff was understood.

    Hi-end IEM's

I am going to have to agree with JP here as well on the SE420s. I found them the most satisfying overall out of the Shure line, the SF5 pro and Jays. I do now know your experience with IEMs in general, but a universal fit would be advisable until you find a sound or company that you like.
  15. My experience with the DT990s was not so great either. I could never figure out whether the highs were exaggerated/prominate or whether the mids were recessed. Either way I always felt like the sound curve was "U" shaped with the mids being recessed compared with the bottom and top. Yet is was one of the weirdest bass responses too. It did not lack extension, but seemed to feel lifeless, no impact. The lack of bass impact may have also contributed to my less than stellar impression of the mids and the cans overall. They did not stay very long with me, needless to say. But they are super comfy and built like tanks. ( the consolation prize for losing) I threw several amps at them with no real success. The amp will never change the inherrent sound of the phones. 2 cents.
  16. I followed that thread with interest, wanting to see if he would really sell the R10s. Based on some of the feedback I have read, it feels more like a marketing ploy than a genuine discovery of a better can. Granted, I have never heard the Denons and have flirted with the idea several times (including recently) of trying them, but the DT770s keep popping up in my head. I just let the PL750s go, I do not another bass heavy, mid deprived headphone. 2 cents.
  17. I still have the stand you made almost 2 years ago and I think it rocks. What a tool. Where does this feeling of entitlement come from? (I know, but rhetorical questions make me happy). Screw him, with rough splintery wood.....then a hot sauce bath.
  18. EDIT
  19. That's good to know. My only experience with ribbons are my Maggies.
  20. The only thing that my CC has is a Sony A816 on clearance for $80 that, I'm watching to drop. Besides that, the 20% off the full retail price of DvDs at $24 sounded awesome
  21. I am not a cat person, so maybe that he is not typical in his person is why I like him. Very cool. Gratz on the new name and even better yet, a new friend.
  22. My is firmly planted on my.... is it the chicken or the egg?
  23. I am new "here" as well. Is there a post minimum before I can wear my ? I hope not, cause its just collecting dust in my closet, next to my mega-size sombrero. Oh yeah, and since joining my HC my personal S/N ratio has decreased and my hearing has improved. I can hear a butterflies wings from a mile away.
  24. Grawk's HD650s.
  25. Based on my experience with my Maggies, wouldn't ribbon headphones be really bass deficient? The bass response of my Maggies is completely dependent on wall proximity. They need the wall to simulate the "box" perse, at least thats my understanding.
