Just received my ESW9a this week and out of the box they are pretty good. Definite midrange bass emphasis but they have a nice tone to them. So far I've only listened to them straight out of my Zune. I didn't realize that these were super aural headphones so it'll take me some time to get use to the feeling.

any chance you'll be making the Seattle meet in May? Would love to check out your B22 and the K1000's
-
they are actually the same company at least that's what their sales guy told me.
-
I guess that really depends on how you do your TV/movie viewing With a screen that is 40"+ and a nice HT system it really helps to have the BD version for both sound and picture quality.
-
exactly what I was thinking too. I always wondered what the market was for those units. What is available on VHS but not on DVD/BD?
-
supposedly being delivered on Wednesday

so many high end amps I want to hear!!! Maybe I should be satisfied with my B22
-
I actually am very interested in the ZD now that I've just found out it can be used as a preamplifier as well as a headphone amp. I'm not sure the question was really answered in this thread in regards to how the ZD compares to the B22 it seems to have digressed into conversation about the ZD's and B22 individual performance and the new Luxman amplifier.

one of my best friends has the XPA2 and XPA5 they were ok home theater amps as they provided a lot of bass but were seemingly muddy and the midrange suffered because of it. I am curious about the XPA1 though and am on the list for the XMC1 when they finally ship it

Pioneer Kuro 5020FD, should be here on Friday And a Buffalo DAC
-
I am also very curious about this comparison

For the most part that is true however Rogue does make a very good Imperial Pilsner in my opinion. Have you had a chance to try a WA brewery named Elysian?
-
I just picked up one of these from audioholics probably useless but it was $300 off!

By the time we got the idea in our heads to make black and tan's out of the 120 and WWS my friend had had a few drink and unfortunately mixed them together incorrectly. We ended up with 120 on the bottom WWS on top even then it seemed that they were trying to separate. One day I'll probably try it again to see if it will layer.
-
Having had them both alone many times I found the taste of the two mixed to be a bit weird far too sweet for my liking but surprisingly easy to drink for a ~20% beer mix.
-
we made the craziest black and tan's a few nights ago, I would not recommend this unless it is going to be the only beer you drink for the night
-
the most killer black and tan

I hope that none of my posts had any implication that my opinions should be the basis of yours. As with most things I do understand that we all have an amount we are willing to spend to achieve our goals. Maybe $6000 will seem like a reasonable amount after I hear the amp at canjam. Never really thought about how different headphone amplification is from speaker amplification I
-
don't worry I'll be there ;P I'll book tickets/hotel later tonight it seems headfi is down and I can't view the event details.
-
Well since you all feel so strongly about it the next $500 I spend will be going towards travel to CanJam to hear it.

This is an analogy I do not get, what you're paying for in say a Bugatti Veyron is the amount of engineering that went into building its engine/chassis to create/handle the amount of power it makes. However the 307a looks to apparently be built to only power headphones which from what I know require small amounts of power. Why is it more expensive than the SET speaker amplifiers that someone else mentioned?
-
If at any time any of you want to educate instead of throwing insults around I'm more than willing to listen

A lotus elise has less weight which as any car enthusiast knows makes as large a difference as a increase in power/tires/brakes on the track. Want to explain how your analogy makes any sense when it comes to headphone amps vs speaker amps?
