  1. The marks on the HD800's I posted up are not seams not sure if you saw the better photos of the marks I posted up but here you go again: As someone else described it looks like someone ran a tool/fingernail over the mesh and flattened some of the metal fiber. In any case I'm done with arguing about if it's an issue or not. We will all have our differing opinions on the matter, I'll be keeping this pair and returning my squeaky set.
  2. maybe the same way they make a metal coffee filter?
  3. Absolutely I think people don't understand how bad the wind chime noise is you can definitely hear it when you're wearing the headphone and moving around or lying down. Hopefully your new pair doesn't exhibit this issue. BTW out of curiosity what number was your squeaky pair? Mine was in the 5xx range, my new pair is in the 3xx range. Try thinking about it from a different perspective. You buy a new premium top of the line Car/Table/Speakers/etc... touted as having impeccable craftsmanship and being the best in the manufacturers line. All their lower end products don't come with any sort of scratches or physical anomalies and in fact are crafted extremely well. Why would your premium top of the line car/table/speaker/etc... come with any sort of dent/scratch straight out of the box? Yes scratches/dents don't interfere with the primary function of a car/table/speaker/headphone but you know we paid premium money for a premium product.
  4. I have a pair of HF-2 ordered and paid for (paypal) and you know what I won't really care if the spacing/depth on the letter is incorrect. Why? Because it's a Grado and I expect a lower quality product from them, the cost 1/3 of the hd800's, and half the fun of the HF-2 is to support the community and own a limited edition headphone. Why am I making a fuss about the HD800? Well lets examine what Sennhesier promised Sennheiser USA - Dynamic Stereo Headphones - HD 800, High Performance - Private Audio Under the description you have a claim/tag line of "HD 800
  5. It's hard to get a photo of but you can see it in person Come now I just received a new pair are you really expecting I wouldn't give them a once over? Since I have two pairs with these imperfections in different areas I'm curious if anyone else has them? Like I said to me it's strange to see a large corporation selling high end goods to have inconsistencies like this. However unless Sennheiser has a recall or admits to an issue I'm going to keep the non-squeaky pair.
  6. Got my new pair from headroom the actual serial number is about 200 lower than my original pair and the do not creak. However I have noticed that both pairs have a minor imperfection in the metal mesh. The pair pictured below is the first pair I received, the second pair has more of these marks on the right mesh. Have you guys noticed anything like this?
  7. maybe because it gets you all the ladies?
  8. Alice in Chains: Unplugged Amazon.com: Unplugged: Alice in Chains: Music
  9. has anyone done this successfully? I've been very tempted to pick up a imported P1.
  10. I've never been a huge fan of the 650's however I did hear a local member's on a vinyl rig with a headphone amp whose make eludes me now, but it sounded completely different than my pair and in most aspects better.
  11. Ha looking forward to getting my HF2 after I saw your brief comparo between them at the AT's
  12. True however I do have a B22 which to my ears is one of the best amps overall. Is Penger's "Headroom Ultra Desktop Amp/DAC" that much better?
  13. what about your 650's do you like better over the ESW10JPN? I find myself liking my ESW9A's more than my 650's
  14. BTW Sennheiser contacted me directly today and told me he wanted to resolve my issue with the HD800's. He went on to explain that the HD800's employ a spring in each side of the headphone to assure proper fit and that they didn't know if this sound would go away as I used them more. From there he went on to state that the HD800's did not make the noises when I had them on my head and that it didn't interfere with my listening experience. His idea of making it right was to have me send my brand new HD800's back to them and have them repair it. Thank god Headroom has excellent service and Jorge gave me the option of returning the pair I have now for a brand new pair. (Which I am doing) The worst part of the experience is when that Sennheiser explained to me that my headphones were "hand made" so each pair would be a little different and that purchasers should expect a differences in each pair. That disturbs me a lot for a few reasons. 1) I have some nice watches which for the most part are handmade at least much more so than the HD800's and NO ONE in the watch community would accept a watch that had a weird creaking imperfection even if it kept time perfectly. 2) Sennheiser didn't offer to buy my pair back and send me a new pair? 3) If they can't get QA right for the "hand assembled spring/dampening system", what does that say about the rest of the headphone? /rant
  15. I think you and I are the only ones so far that are mentioning the mid-range warmness if I'm interpreting and explaining what I'm hearing correctly
  16. Call it what you will but Eric seems to blame the speed at which I'm moving the cups for the noise. I've created a second video showing that this noise occurs even when slowly moving the cups. Yes this doesn't interfere with the sound once I have the HD800 on my head but as I stated in my initial impression post I expected better build quality on a statement product.
  17. Yes it sounds like some weird spring/chime on both sides of my HD800's. I also only had mine for about an hour and noticed it when I was adjusting the headphone on my head to see if they sounded different depending on fit. I really really enjoy mine as well as someone said on one of these forums they really take some of the best qualities from a lot of headphones I've heard and incorporates them in a very balanced fashion together. Mine were brand new out of the box, they have only gone on my head and back in the box for burn in. Mine is doing it on both sides as you can hear...
  18. I just added a extra leading zero to my S/N to make it six digits.
  19. :palm::palm::palm: Great sending a email out to Headroom now hopefully this is painless
  20. How weird I've uploaded a quick video from my laptops webcam so you can hear the creaking I'm referring to:
  21. It was on accident since I was not use to the huge earcups, as I was taking them off my thumb touched silver mesh. Intresting that you don't hear the spring clicking .... Any other owners care to chime in?
  22. Just picked mine up off the porch. Really really really big box, I am actually surprised how much smaller these headphones are in person vs. photos. However the earcups are HUGE. Not incredibly impressed with the build quality the silver mesh on my pair seem to already have a scratch on them. The silver mesh also seems to attract finger prints/body oil quite a bit. You can also hear some sort of spring clicking in each of the ear cups when moving the earcups back and forth. Initial impressions vs the D7000: As many people say the D7000 has a coloring similar to a equalization of \__/. The HD800's right out of the box sound like they have a bit of midrange bias but much more balanced than the D7000. The midrange bias I'm hearing could be because I'm used to the d7000, but consider that I primarily listen to ESW9a's in the office. String instruments on the d7000 still sound more realistic to me as the tone they carry is just much more solid. The HD800's are better a vocals and an overall more balanced sound. That's it for now will provide more later
  23. I called him out for the same thing when he first posted up his review prior to canjam Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio - View Single Post - Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread he clearly has transformed into a complete self serving
  24. sucks... I had to pass this year as well my sister decided to visit me ironically from San Jose this week... Can't wait to read all your impressions as I'm not due to get my HD800's until late next week.
