    Audeze LCD-2

The finish of these headphones is astoundingly outstanding. Think military , gun metal anodized, wood, earpiece adjustment clunks into place. The headband is very smooth but simple, cups fit on the ear with necessary angle, pads are hard and surprised me by not being uncomfortable, cables attach via mini xlr so if you don't like the stock cables, it is easy to go custom. The sound is good, I will say more later but it does what I want from an ortho without any fiddling - deep bass, tamed mids and extended highs ( the miffed one will need his tweaked ) I have not spent much time with them and did more fun listening last night but thus far it looks like this may be the one we have been waiting for. ..dB ps - lets keep those quills exposed to air shall we

    Audeze LCD-2

not worth your time bothering to audition them, unsubscribe now , much prefer SR60s, build is flimsy = the esp950 looks like a tank in comparison, anyway too preoccupied sorting out my porcupine needle collection to say much more ..dB
  4. a little late to the party but I can whole heartedly seccond the TP's. Quite mighty and will give most any headphone a run. They have the speed and space of the the R10 but much more body and bass accuracy ( could be foggy memory as inferred above ) . Most all of my headphones are closed and again most all are ortho. The stock T50rp never quite cut it for me - brilliant mids and top end but I could not coax decent bass out of them. Vintage - although not officially closed, most all the vintage ortho's are semi closed ( the T40 is the exception ) and leak not a lot. Personally, any one of them will offer superb listening BUT they are mostly supraaural which is not for all. My top headphones are woodies , they just seem to respond very nicely to a ported enclosure with good damping. so my vote for a can while waiting for the TP is a "cheap" ortho as this will get you into the ortho groove ..dB T10 - Yamaha HP50 / YH2 - etc
  5. have GB in their initials ..dgb
  6. Yeah, I am SUPER excited about this. I have been chatting on and off to the Audeze folk for... , well, quite sometime. They were ready to roll a few months ago and just before a sample got shipped to me, one of their "experimental" tracks led them to halt all production and retrofit all the HPs with a new driver which is not only lighter but removed all the subtle annoyances which they had been pottering with as per normal ortho protocols. The new graphs and plots should be out anytime and I am sure Audeze will be making their official announcement. I don't want to steal their thunder but with the HE5LE coming out, I wanted folk to be aware that the playing field was still open. and just to be totally clear/transparent, I have no affiliation to Audeze and am not shilling a product that I have not yet heard. I feel very honoured that I have been allowed a preview and if they live up to their expected performance, will be sending off a fraction of my first "real" paycheck to a worthy cause. ..dB
  7. The wait is over !!! LCD2 will be in house this coming week , stay tuned..dB
  8. Any uncertainty has been laid to rest On the HF thread, Fang claims a thinner membrane but thicker traces with lower impedance. All this with lower bass, no peakiness ........ @DAC I am not sure about the "new" MF XCANS , I owned one of the first V1's and it was a very basic hybrid amp, LV supply with doubla to tube-opamp , so many factors can affect performance in this type of set up. Do you have any frequency sweep tones to do some basic subjective testing? ..dB
  9. this sounds like a driver housing to me? ..dB
  10. I wish there was more information on the HE5 LE. Said to be new driver in a plastic housing. But this is public knowledge - no pics or info being circulated ..dB
  11. LOL Spitzer beat me too it - I was going to suggest sending it to Scotland . sitting on the sub may help some ..dB
  12. The LCD1 is voiced forward naturally but on the pair you heard, they had been pushed higher per request..dB
  13. congratulations, this project has been quite the DIY epic. glad to see we can all laugh at ourselves , life is too short ..dB
  14. Chris!! welcome to the mad house - your pets'll fit in fine here and there is some good advise on digital sources to be had. Keep the pics of Mashup coming ..dB
  15. thanks for setting the record straight. and glad you like them ..dB
  16. I will need to spend more time with the HD800 and T1 it seems, neither impressed me at the meet but it was with all the caveats that come along with meet conditions, noise, equipment etc. In fact I would take ibudz over the HD800 paired with a Benchmark based on the poor experience. As for the LCD1 - my memory of them is a pretty good all round performer, good extention in both directions with no real nasty bumps. Comfy too even if a little cheesy. ..dB
  17. The only way Marc has his headphones - Nugget Audio XLR ..dB
  18. Nothing secretive, just a pair of T10's ..dB
  19. Glad it made it safely Once I am settled in new state/home etc, if there is interest, I will put together a "travel box" so that people can sample a few of the ortho flavours out there. ..dB edit .... looking forward to someone else's opinion on a certain B22 and now the comment of "some help which requires a screwdriver" makes total sense
  20. Man, those really are gorgeous. People keep prodding me to get into Stats, and not only for the bling factor ..dB

  25. I have been curious about the parafeed amps for a while but honestly cannot commit to building anything before August so I will most likely have to sit this round out unless you end up delaying the process a little. Looks very cool ..dB
