AI is generating some weird stuff... BattleTech as an 80s science fiction movie:

Probably live music and other random stuff. The budget is super low, which is why I've started at around $200 or so. I already have GarageBand and Adobe Audition, so I should learn to use them.

I've got nothing... started investigating a Zoom iQ6 stereo microphone for the phone and the Rode VideoMicro II for a nonexistent camera. Purely for hobby recording. Compact, low-cost, maybe reasonable quality? Doing research on vintage cassette Walkmans and MiniDisc recorders revived my curiosity in field recording.

I read Slant first, too. Finally getting to Queen of Angels.

On the subject of compact cassettes... everything I watch and read about the cassette revival makes me love digital music more:

The claimed performance gains are decent. I'm looking forward to the benchmark tests. It looks like the M2 iMac is delayed or waiting until the M3, and fanboys are already enraged about the Mac Pro. I'm particularly happy about the increased memory... today's high-performance applications are becoming more and more memory hungry.

The Scooby-Doo Movies: Wednesday is Missing A slice of nostalgia from 1972 – I thought it was interesting considering the recent releases of the new Velma series and Wednesday: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7tn6a8 * This episode is not available on home video in the U.S. due to rights issues with the Addams Family. And... the first Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? episode, What A Night for a Knight, first aired September 13, 1969: https://www.topcartoons.tv/cartoon/what-a-night-for-a-knight-1/

Sony announces less money boxes: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/01/new-sony-walkman-music-players-feature-stunning-good-looks-android-12/ I guess they don't expect to sell many of these things... my main concern is on the feasibility of battery replacement, which is not discussed. My 3rd-generation iPod Shuffle is still working on its original battery, which is not bad for a device from 2009.

Indie bands have been releasing cassettes for a few years, but now a new cassette player has been released. I was cleaning my place and stumbled on some old cassettes... taking some time to listen through all of them (especially since many of them are unlabeled/mislabeled) on my ancient Walkman. Unfortunately, this new player doesn't measure or perform very well, but perhaps it will stir the big players into producing something better. https://www.wearerewind.com
