  1. I read Slant first, too. Finally getting to Queen of Angels.
  2. Greg Bear – Queen of Angels
  3. Flash Gordon: The Greatest Adventure of All no commercial release in the US – broadcast on NBC on August 21, 1982 https://archive.org/details/flash-gordon-the-greatest-adventure-of-all-1979
  4. Chris Rea – Era 1 (1978-1984)
  5. On the subject of compact cassettes... everything I watch and read about the cassette revival makes me love digital music more:

  8. The claimed performance gains are decent. I'm looking forward to the benchmark tests. It looks like the M2 iMac is delayed or waiting until the M3, and fanboys are already enraged about the Mac Pro. I'm particularly happy about the increased memory... today's high-performance applications are becoming more and more memory hungry.
  9. New M2 Mac Mini and MacBook Pros announced today... performance gains, increased RAM, improved battery life... increased prices: https://www.macworld.com/article/1475274/m2-mac-mini-m2-pro-upgrade-option.html https://www.macworld.com/article/1475272/m2-pro-and-m2-max-macbook-pro-cpu-gpu-battery.html
  10. The Scooby-Doo Movies: Wednesday is Missing A slice of nostalgia from 1972 – I thought it was interesting considering the recent releases of the new Velma series and Wednesday: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7tn6a8 * This episode is not available on home video in the U.S. due to rights issues with the Addams Family. And... the first Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? episode, What A Night for a Knight, first aired September 13, 1969: https://www.topcartoons.tv/cartoon/what-a-night-for-a-knight-1/
  11. Happy Birthday!
  12. Sony announces less money boxes: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/01/new-sony-walkman-music-players-feature-stunning-good-looks-android-12/ I guess they don't expect to sell many of these things... my main concern is on the feasibility of battery replacement, which is not discussed. My 3rd-generation iPod Shuffle is still working on its original battery, which is not bad for a device from 2009.
  13. Chromeo – She's In Control
  14. Indie bands have been releasing cassettes for a few years, but now a new cassette player has been released. I was cleaning my place and stumbled on some old cassettes... taking some time to listen through all of them (especially since many of them are unlabeled/mislabeled) on my ancient Walkman. Unfortunately, this new player doesn't measure or perform very well, but perhaps it will stir the big players into producing something better. https://www.wearerewind.com

  22. It's hard not to binge the show. Already watched a few episodes of Season 2.
  23. Finally finished the first season of The Expanse!
  24. Happy Birthday!
