  1. The fabled L3 is likely going to be called the Apsara. I have built that topology in a power amp before, but the headphone amp has considerable refinements over that circuit (which is lovely nevertheless). The tube amp I had at the show was the Copenhagen which is a pentode amp. Also lovely - pentodes are underappreciated.
  2. Walnut and maple.
  3. It shows a tiny statistical effect, but not the sort of thing you could watch and actually notice. There is certainly not enough of an effect to declare someone streaky.

  12. More or less. But the paper works well. I like to see the whole thing at once.
  13. I tried some of the software offerings and found that they did not really fit my needs. So I decided to go old school. I bought a big roll of grid paper where I can put dates across the top, projects down the side, and keep track of lots of aspects. So far it works pretty well.

  15. Thanks. I feel older on this birthday than on any previous one.
  16. That seems like a lot of effort for 18 parts. Have you looked into small ovens? Or hotplates? http://dangerousprototypes.com/2013/03/14/workshop-video-59-946a-solder-reflow-hot-plate-workshop-video/
  17. I don't either, but I can cut 12 of them, put them in a circle, and divide the error by 12.
  18. I spent the day trying to cut a chunk of wood with a 30 degree angle. After a few tries, I am as close as 29.996. That's probably going to have to work.
  19. http://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/ It's a drive. It is worth the drive.
  20. And that's really the point. This is your opinion. It happens to be one I agree with -- I am, and have been, a proponent of CCSes in audio circuits for years. I think they are almost always the right decision -- but that does not mean that other solutions do not have merit, and that there aren't good reasons for someone to solve a problem in a way I might not. The world is not black and white. The above discussion seemed to suggest it might be.
