  1. Looks great. Rip blade probably cuts faster but leaves more pronounced tool marks to clean up, standard blade is more likely to burn.
  2. Can anyone comment on the marantz/clear audio 15S1 and how it compares to some of the other options mentioned?
  3. Has anyone ever actually used that feature? I'm skeptical. People definitely speak highly of the woodpecker fence. The unique jessem feature I'm interested in is the add on slider, but I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost.
  4. Good to hear. I have had what might charitably be called mixed results with various woodpecker things I have bought. I could definitely use a real fence for my drill. I've been eyeing the JessEm fence. My current fence, from Rockler, is functional but not great. I also have an incra positioner which is nice, but the incra fence part feels like an afterthought.
  5. Purple heart won't stay purple for long. It turns brown. Two ways to fix that... https://www.lie-nielsen.com/products/no-7-jointer-plane http://www.powermatic.com/us/en/c/jointers/P90
  6. I doubt either ebony or koa boards will be too large for the car. also, owl has preshrunk BB ply: https://www.owlhardwood.com/baltic-birch.html

  9. Either that or using strong joints in the corners, and mortising in the slats.
  10. I'd take it over the white walled McMansions shown in most of the rest of the pics. The tile in the fireplace is great.
  11. Is 50" the length? If so, how about a slice from a 16" inner tube. You can get one on Amazon for $12
  12. There was a turntable co back in the 90s that used dental floss for belts because it didn't stretch. https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/analogue-source/162085-diy-turntable-belts-2.html Alternatively, use a double pulley and connect it midway between the motor and platter to utilize available belts.
  13. Awesome. Thanks. Happy to send you a shipping label
  14. Preferably a pair. I'm more of a listener than measurer. Different experiment, actually. Raal will be differential.
  15. Not sure where to put this, so I'll put it here: Does anyone have any single ended output transformers laying around that they would be willing to lend me for some testing? Specs don't matter much. Primary can be anything from 3K5 to 15K, any secondary appropriate for speakers (4 to 16) is fine. I'll clip lead them in, test them for a bit, and then send them back.

  18. Looks reasonable for framing with 2x4's, but probably not for "wood working". The Incra fence above is accurate, and adjustable, to 1/1000"
  19. So sorry to hear, Fitz. What a beautiful cat.
  20. It is the Incra. I think it is like the old saying about democracy, that it's the worst fence available, except for all the others. It can be finicky and difficult to get calibrated, but it allows for doing things that are otherwise impossible. Traditionally, woodworkers don't really measure which makes it anathema to many people as it is purely about working to measurements. But it does suit the way I work, and I'd be lost without it. I did try to have a router table built into my saw table for a while. I tried using the same Incra fence for both, which was a bust. Then I found that the auxiliary router table fence was constantly in the way of the saw, so I removed that for the previously mentioned sliding table (which I am more ambivalent about, but when it is useful, it is very useful). The one accessory I have found that is worth its weight in gold is the JessEm stock guide. also, for the record, we have a Nespresso. I'm not that picky
  21. Don't worry, you'll have to take it apart again when you replace that fence. And again when you add the sliding table.
