We had family down from a Covid hot spot in Mass, and one of the people visiting is a RN who regularly tests people. Since it was a nice day, out of an abundance of caution, we had outdoor picnic style Thanksgiving. That involved, among other things, Quiche (a type of pie), Yorkshire puddings stuffed with succotash (also a type of pie), stuffing cooked inside puff pastry (more pie), and apple galettes (a free form pie). To my wife's chagrin, the pumpkin was in the form of scones, so pumpkin pie will need to be made in the near future. For the record, stuffing cooked inside puff pastry is a winner.

I don't care what anyone says, I still use winamp on windows when I am not using roon. It still has the best interface for local music as far as I'm concerned.

I think I have listened to this 6 times in the last two days. I probably will listen to it 6 more in the next two.

Sorry, Steve.

Looks how I'd expect a first coat to look. You should let it dry, sand it, and do it again. That will knock down the raised grain and help fill in the pores to even the color. Then sand it again.

Julie Green: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/05/arts/julie-green-dead.html Six tacos, six glazed doughnuts and a Cherry Coke: That was the last meal of a man executed in Oklahoma in July 1999. Rendered in cobalt blue glaze on a white china plate the next year, it was the first in Julie Green’s decades-long art project, “The Last Supper,” which documented the final meals of death row prisoners around the country. * * * In 2001 in Indiana, a prison granted an inmate’s request to have his mother make him chicken dumplings in the institution’s kitchen. Professor Green painted the word “Mother” on the platter that pays homage to that meal. ... In Georgia in 2009, a mentally disabled inmate asked for half a pecan pie. He didn’t understand the concept of execution, and he intended to save some of the pie to eat afterward.

It looks like the earth wire is not connected to anything. Probably someone had a ground loop and disconnected it in an attempt to solve that. There's a pretty extensive thread on these at SBAF.

x2 on this. Once you are in the deep end of running and paying for AD, you might as well lean in and get the benefits of the system.
-
Is there a reason you don't want to use Samba? If all you need from AD is share and printer access, it should be pretty trivial.

Disolve steel wool in vinegar and rub that on. Will turn oak gray. Soak the wood in tannins first for black. https://www.popularwoodworking.com/finishing/ebonizing_wood/

I've switched to using lundahl power transformers. They cost a little more, but I got tired of noise, heat, and failure. And of arguing with transformer winders. -
I saw them, probably on that tour. (At Bogart's in Cincinnati) They opened for mudhoney. Absolutely worst concert I have ever been to. On purpose, by them. They essentially played one deep plodding chord for a half hour. Excruciating. But also awesome.

I'm not sure if this is really good, or a little too gimmicky. But I've been enjoying it.

Did you not do the through dovetails into the top?

You say that like it took a long time. That's remarkably fast. And it looks great.

It was a lovely New England autumn weekend, so a walk in the woods, some focaccia, and some apple galettes.

Quiche that is a little more rustic than intended, but still delicious. Roasted potatoes, grilled zucchini, chèvre, herbs, and crust made with whole wheat pastry flour.

Donate it to your local hacker space. You'll get a nice tax break, and it will get used and appreciated. You saw how rusty his tools got? Might as well just burn it this winter
