  1. From a couple of weeks ago - breakfast for some distinguished guests who were staying with us. Out of season plums and frozen peaches are both delicious when baked.
  2. Chaim Topol, Fiddler on the Roof actor, dies aged 87 https://www.theguardian.com/film/2023/mar/09/chaim-topol-dead-fiddler-on-the-roof-actor-dies-death-aged-87 https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/09/obituaries/topol-dead.html
  3. I did a similar project with Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 13, II. Allegro molto e vivace. which is a lot easier as it's only 2 minutes long. And weird as I am not really much of a classical listener. But that little bit of music is one of my favorite things to hear. My takeaway was that Glenn Gould is someone I like a lot.
  4. Happy birthday!

  13. This sounds like something is oscillating. It is almost certainly not due to a ground loop, bad outlet, cable, power cord, air conditioner, etc, and it likely going to require a scope and knowledge of the circuit to diagnose.

  19. Regarding the initial comparison of the Daguerre Giroux vs. the Fox Talbot: the construction of the DG, with the grain running top to bottom, will cause the distance between the lens and the film to change with humidity as the wood swells and contracts thus throwing it out of focus. The front to back grain of the FT will be stable in that regard. It's a minor thing that probably didn't really matter at the time, but it's an interesting form vs function distinction. Also, the Brownie wasn't produced in the tradition of the Model T as it predates it by a decade
  20. Happy birthday!
