  1. Oh, that makes sense. My mom used to buy a single 50 lb bag of one type of rice. My friends would come over and couldn't get over that. Does that come in a single 50lb bag, as well? Or do you have several smaller bagged varieties? Do you make Jello with that, or Soylent Green?
  2. Awright! How Asian of you! Are your eyes getting smaller yet? That's way more rice than I have now, since I don't eat rice nearly like I used to. We used to have rice at every meal as a kid. That would drive my wife crazy! Next you probably need several different kinds of rice in the house: long grain, short grain, jasmine, sticky; I suppose you could even do arborio, although arborio wouldn't speed up the slanting of your eyes.
  3. Wow, glad your son is ok. I've had similar frights, and bejeesus, it's scary! Not much to offer for help here, other than to offer to ship out some rice. Just can't believe as an Asian guy that any household doesn't have rice. Growing up, we'd always have 25-50 lb bags in storage, often 2-3 different bags at a time! You probably don't own a rice cooker, either, do you?!
  4. So? Edit: Sorry, missed the post where you said you loved it.
  5. Glad to hear it!
  6. Huh. I figured it wouldn't taste so good if stored. I'll give that a shot.
  7. Agree. I greatly prefer them when I have time. But I rarely have time.
  8. Wow, congrats!
  9. Michael Symon's B Spot: Vanilla Bean Apple Pie Bacon shake, cheeseburger with salami, built in chips, mustard, home made pickles.
  10. Jim, just think about the nice, off the tap Domaine Dupage (hopefully) coming your way.
  11. Didn't even notice the pic ... darn VA firewall is blocking it! Looking at it on my iPad now. Boy, that would be a pretty small college graduation!
  12. Sigh, I'm not even making any sense here. I need to proof my posts before hitting 'send.' Should be: I suspect you are vastly OVERestimating my DIY skills (none, maybe less than zero - I often break things that I'm trying to fix). Yes, grawk was referring to Leonardo there. I'm being a douchebag by being so careless in my posts. In any case, it's nice to hear from you again! And as noted, you are also a non-douchebag.
  13. Heh. Thought it was college.
  14. 'Grats! A great achievement!
  15. Ooh, I know that John guy really well. I'd really watch out for him, he's a bit of an ass. Actually, I shared a table with Skylab. I suspect you are vastly underestimating my DIY skills (none, maybe less than zero - I often break things that I'm trying to fix). Your setup sounded great! You talked circles around me technically speaking, but I guess that doesn't take much ... Edit: BTW, grawk saying you're not a douchebag is quite a compliment, indeed!

Somehow missed this until now ... she's a lady, not a tramp. Please refer to her as such.

  18. Too bad we are driving to Cleveland for the weekend, otherwise I'd lobby for us to meet you there!
  19. It's a shame your wife didn't have Parrots' sophisticated lab to run some tests and produce the graphs to prove to you that they're not the same. True dat. But I couldn't have TWO Dusty quotes in my sig ...
  20. Clarkmc2! I think we shared an equipment room in CanJam last summer. Scary good DIY knowledge. Nice to see you! Leonardo, I really take for granted how fortunate I am that there have been some great meets virtually in my own back yard. As wmcmanus mentioned, meets can get loud, and are not the best way to get a really good demo, but I can get a general feel for what I liked at meets. Certainly better than not hearing them at all! The only time I heard a K1000 was on an old Eddie Current 2A3, and well, it was a very good experience. Perhaps one day you can cross the ocean ...
  21. Nice, Jim! Did you ever make it to the brew-pub in Warrenville?
  22. Estimated value of your lab test results here:
  23. Any chance you can get to a meet and try them out with several good amps and sources?
  24. Don't give up on the k1000 until you've heard them with a real amp.
