  1. Yeah, kids' Bday parties these days are completely overblown. Drives me crazy. Especially when we do it!
  2. Ooh, nice, Mike!
  3. That looks really good!
  4. I used one of those gizmos that extends your wired network via the electrical outlets. This extended my network from the upstairs office to the basement in the opposite corner of a >100 year old house. It's worked suprisingly well for both my XBox for Netflix, and for streaming music to the PWD. I also needed to get a switch to allow me to make more than one ethernet ports out of one. I know wireless bridges are possible, but I really had a hard time getting that done. Maybe I'm just an idiot, though.
  5. I'm pretty sure the USB port is only for diagnostics and firmware upgrades.
  6. Happy birthday!
  7. Oh, could be ... so would that imply worse sound via those digital inputs, or does the Lens just keep the transport and network bridge up to the level of the usual digital inputs?
  8. RIP Steve.
  9. Congrats on paying off the mortgage! Any special plans? Bonfire? Dinner for the cost of one mortgage payment? Buy a nice place in a small village in France?
  10. I stream off my NAS which is two floors upstairs, and it works quite well. (Be aware though, that the PWD needs an ethernet connection; Wifi has been promised for a while, but don't think it's available yet.) I remote control using e-Lyric on iPad. I'd guess a computer setup via USB would be fine, too, but I don't know all the technical stuff behind how it would sound. I know PS Audio talks about their digital lens, which is supposed to make it sound equally good regardless of source. Can't say if that's true or not, though.
  11. Nice! I'd be happy to assist you Lone Star folk at any time, tho'. (Shelly, Steve, too, did I miss anyone?)
  12. Nightmares, indeed! Good thing I didn't see that pic until this morning!
  13. I wish I had one I loved, but I don't. I have a Royal Sovereign but it hasn't been too reliable. The humidistat doesn't work like it used to, so it keeps running. But I do like that it has a pump to pump the water up and into the utility sink, so I don't have to keep emptying it. At the time, this was the rare model that had this feature, but it's become more common now. When this one totally dies, I'd probably get a similar model from a better company like this: http://www.amazon.com/DeLonghi-DD50P-Energy-Dehumidifier-Patented/dp/B003FJU48G/ref=reg_hu-rd_add_1_dp Good luck! Edit: I would echo skullguise in that all dehumidifiers add heat to the room, since they don't vent out the hot air, like an air conditioner. This might be important for you, since it's a bedroom. Even our basement can get too warm in the summer, when it's running constantly. You might be better off with a mobile AC, which I have in my upstairs bedroom. We have this: http://www.amazon.com/MobilComfort-KY-80-Portable-Evaporative-Dehumidifier/dp/B003E8GG3U/ref=sr_1_21?ie=UTF8&s=appliances&qid=1317813615&sr=1-21 It works fine for a small room, but we got it because it's cheap. I'm sure there are better models.
  14. Hope one of them was Alvin - he deserved it, annoying rodent!
  15. You called?
  16. Congrats smeggy! The comments on the gizmodo site, however, are prime HF like material. I just want to tear my eyeballs out reading the asinine debate among a groups on maroons.
  17. Wow, terrible news. Sorry to hear it, raffy!

    Turn Me On

For soothing female vocals not mentioned above, I often turn to Jane Monheit, Mindy Smith, starting to explore Holly Cole.
  19. Congrats Chris and family!
  20. Happy travels! Good luck getting hot water , what a pain, but glad the reunion was fun. My 30th is in 2 years, and I'm very undecided if I want to go. Today we're going apple picking, then to Two Brothers Brewery for a pint and a meal.
  21. Belated Happy 20/25th , Al and Claire! Somehow missed that, amidst all the good booze info!
  22. Sorry, Dinny! Hope you feel better soon!
  23. Got mine a month or two ago and love it. But honeymoon is not over ...
  24. Oh, nice! I hear those have a really good synergy with Thiels. You could probably just use the Thiels for the rear channels in a pretty nice surround setup with the Wave radio for the fronts. I only hope that the Audio Aero has a good digital output to feed the Wave radio?
