  1. It suggested 'The Paul McCartney' for me: 8 oz Tequila Anejo and 8 oz Coffee.
  2. Ah, thanks for clarifying. Looks like an interesting site. You said that in past tense?
  3. Wow, a whole web site dedicated to the topic! How 'bout that? And the authors from 'Surgery Magazine' are from Madison, WI, which is where Anne went to school. I'll have to ask her if she knew them. Ooh, wooden ax handle looks rough. Frozen pig's tail, Whip handle, Curling iron, Knife Sharpener, Ice pick. Ouch.
  4. But that wouldn't require you to switch careers again! My wife just went to her med school reunion a few weeks ago, and the conversation apparently turned to this very topic, things seen when they were students. No totem poles, but yes to the gerbils, light bulbs, and the best ... 'hey, what is that buzzing, vibrating sound? Ah, I see...'
  5. Man, that's some good customer service! Thanks, Todd!
  6. Perhaps there's a formal degree for such information?
  7. I don't really know ... but I'm thinking my PWD mk1 will be a good match with my LCD-2 Rev1!
  8. I sent Todd a PM.
  9. Yeah, I just got my mk1 a few months ago.
  10. Tyll (or anyone else), did you have a chance to hear the Arete with the switching PS for an extended time?
  11. Funny ... you guys make drinkin' fun! Hey, wasn't that a song?
  12. Nice write up, thanks! I've gotta sell some stuff.
  13. Oooh, nice! Congrat!
  14. ^This. Wow, scary stuff ... wishing you the best with this!
  15. Absolutely. I have plenty of failures. I don't feel like posting them here in a public forum, but absolutely it's true. PM me if you want to know the ugly details. Any sense of competency now definitely comes from years and years and years and years of real life experience, and being willing to learn from my mistakes. School set a good foundation, and gives me credibility, but that's about it. At some point, you have to just do it. I remember my first few years as a real attending doc, having to tell myself that if I just made one minor mistake per day and didn't potentially really harm anyone, that it would be a successful day. It's scary, but there's no other way to move on and live your life!
  16. CJ, prove them wrong, bro'! I'll bet they'd be happy to eat their words, if you can prove them wrong.
  17. Nice post, Carl!
  18. The Goat Sessions (Ma, Thiele, Meyer, Duncan)
  19. Me, too. Wmcmanus, that's really tough. So sorry about your friend. I deal with mood disorders every day at work. But I still hear about so and so down the street who is depressed, and didn't know. I can't read minds, and if someone chooses to hide something, it's pretty tough to know. We in the field often talk about how difficult it is to even predict which of our patients we are seeing who might suicide. Most of us have had a suicide of a patient that really surprised us. More often you can have a feel for it, certain patients just really worry you. But not always. Some you worry, but you still can't stop them. Sometimes, people feel at peace because they've finally made a decision to do it. It's just really really tough. Oh, and I've not heard of helium, either. That's pretty weird. Again, sorry ... I hope you can remember him for all the great qualities you mentioned!
  20. IIRC, I think he took a left turn to another path.
  21. Does he get an organic cookie? Gawd, I hated organic chem. Although ... in one of the labs, I once created matter! Yep, a great result would have been 80-90% yield. I got something like a 2000% yield. Apparently confused my acid with my base, or vice versa, and just kept going and going. This was at the end of 2-3 days and who knows how many hours of lab time. My lab TA just rolled his eyes and sent me on my way. I lost points, obviously, but still passed the lab for doing everything else. Btw, great job on the test, cj! So you're that ass who is always breaking the curve !?
  22. I liked this better. Certainly was what I was thinking.
  23. Just part of the learning process and half the fun, don't you think?
  24. Bryan, have fun! Rent a Maserati! Tyrion Mike, love the bike ride! aimless Al, sheesh ... I'm scared of my kids growing up!
