Boy, that's a lot of soda! Had to look up Incotex ... they look really nice, but I have to agree with Jim on the name. Speaking of Jim, thanks, Jim ... Me:

So I upgraded the 'network via house electricity' thingamabob, and no problems since. 24/96, here I come!

Thanks, Mike! We only have one shower, so we're really hoping we at least have a working shower when we start our day on Monday morning! My good friend who is assisting thinks we will. The paid contractor (my friend's brother in law's best friend) will be doing all the work with my friend (who should be a contractor, and took a week off of work to do this, because he thinks it's fun!) assisting. Hopefully, since they won't have to coordinate among different workers, it'll be quicker. Also, we'll be visiting my family in Cleveland for Thanksgiving weekend, so we'll be out of their way. But it's still probably wishful thinking. My friend's wife even said so. Really, they can stick around as long as they want, as long as the shower is working, I'll be happy. When my buddy came to assess the project, he walked around the house and found other things to fix in the house, too. So they're also going to fix the lighting that doesn't work in the basement. Oh, and may as well replace the old ceiling down there, while they're at it. You can't get the lighting trim installed in the kitchen ceiling for the last 5 years? Sure, we'll do that, too. In fact, just make a list of things that are wrong in the house and we'll fix it while we're there. We'll have a brand new house when we get back from Thanksgiving! I really think anyone who can fix anything in a house is a genius, because I can't do anything like that. Watching those two walk through the house discussing this stuff was incredible to me, because they both saw stuff I never noticed in the 11 years I've lived here!

Cool pepper mill! Awesome bar! I'll try to have some Two Brothers for it next time I see you .

I can't complain. I've put this together piecemeal with no formal estimate for the project as a whole, and my friend who just eyeballed the project at the start, and will be the assistant in the installation, has been dead accurate. I was just hoping that he was crazy with his guess, and I could come in lower by doing my own footwork. I was wrong. He was right. So my adjusted attitude is with myself, not anyone else. )
-
Yeah ... I've kind of noticed I need that attitude, already.

Well, I should say I HOPE it's installed over next weekend, but really, they're starting on Wednesday ... so it's a long weekend, with the expectation that it'll probably spill over a bit.

Shelly, boy, that sounds tough, but glad to hear you're recovering so well! And nice hips! Guess I don't know much about a hip joint, but it sure looks pretty torn up!

Bought a new bathroom. Will be installed next weekend.

Happy Birthday!

Didn't Dinny say he had that haircut?

Wow, time flies! Seems like only yesterday that you had the last one. Great that you have those. So nice to remember that you actually do make a difference! Still ... happy vacation!!!!

My wife told me she learned in a psychology class she took in college that screaming improves pain tolerance. They had two groups of people put their hands in ice water for as long as they could tolerate. One group was told to be quiet and hold it in, the other was to scream bloody murder. The scream bloody murder group could tolerate the ice water for much longer. So, scream bloody murder, Shelly! And good luck!

Thanks all! I went with the regular switching PS for now. I just wonder if it'd make as much of a difference for the Arete as it does for the Peak, considering the extra cash. Todd said he'd still send a Volcano as part of the demo program, so I can hear it for myself. Did you have a chance to compare the two yet?

Nice pics! Looks like fun! And Steve is right, I never noticed, but Colin is a little bit Opie Cunningham!

Really good article. I'm saving it as a reference to use as my kids get older. Once, while walking my bike along the lakefront of Chicago, three men approached me asking for directions to a well known tourist site (the Bean). They tried to set up one on each side and the third tried to get behind me, the first being really friendly and asking for the directions. I felt immediately threatened, and quickly backed up to keep the third guy in front of me, keeping eye contact with all three. The friendly guy smiled, and said 'whoa, relax, we're just trying to find the Bean, can you direct us there?' I actually found myself thinking where the Bean was relative to us and figuring out where to point them. But that third guy kept trying to get behind me, making me really nervous. I finally just said I didn't know and walked aggressively off in another direction. In hindsight, it seems obvious they were up to no good, but in the moment , this all occurred unexpectedly over a few seconds, and I can see where the element of surprise and being prepared to avoid surprise can make a big difference.

Happy Birthday The Monkey!

I can do that! I can do that! ... oh, never mind.

Sounds like a shitty day, Mike and Jeff. WTF? Mike, you of all people should have a 'jump the line' ticket. Kind of like when you go to an amusement park these days, you can get the premium shorter line ticket. You should get that automatically!
