Mike, my brother is an optometrist. I'm going to email him to see if he knows of a cool eye patch that he uses for his patients. I should have thought of this long ago.

Sorry Mike. Nice to have Antonio here! You don't look so bad at all. But agree that a cooler patch would be nice. When I was a resident, the chairman of our department had this. He looked WAY worse, but worked right through it, and didn't miss a beat. Tonight I'll toast to your facial nerve and the start of its recovery. Feel better soon, buddy!

Yeah, sounds like you'll have to send it in for repair. Are you sure it takes two weeks, though? My Dell repairs were usually less than a week. But maybe I had some sort of business support plan. Maybe if they won't just replace it, you can convince them they at least owe you a faster turnover?

Doesn't the Windows key match you to the original computer you were using? So even with a Windows installation disc, won't it still think it's a different computer based on components list and Windows key? If that's the case, then Microsoft would have to allow it on their end, right? Not easy, but maybe getting MS permission for that particular key? On second thought, I wonder if you should just insist on a replacement machine at this point? Elevate your trouble ticket to the highest possible level, then insist on a full refund, but settle for a replacement machine.

Sucks, dude! Although ... new computer! I will say, having both Windows and Mac machines, that I spend more time troubleshooting Windows than I do the Mac. And all the consumer magazines that rate customer satisfaction have Apple as excellent across the board, and anything Windows as Fair to Poor. Just sayin'.

Any serious windows problems for me required a clean installation, unfortunately. And it always required an installation disc, and the disc always came from the manufacturer, in my case, Dell.

Truth. psychopath is an old term, but still in popular use. The current official term is 'Antisocial Personality Disorder'. But that's a mouthful, so the word in popular use is sociopath. Psychopath is still in common use, but an older term. I've met a couple. They are very charming and likeable, and popular, for a while, then bad things start happening, people around him start fighting, and all hell breaks loose. Someone gets hurt, and the person vanishes or is kicked out. Hopefully sooner, rather than later.
