  1. I've had several APCs that worked fine, the main difference being backup capacity. Though, IIRC, to set some of the advanced settings, like to turn off the loud alarm, I had to hook it up to a PC, use the APC Powerchute software, then hook it back up to the Mac.
  2. Thank you x2! Vicki, nice to have you back!
  3. ^This! Ack! How scary! I suppose two eye patches wouldn't do much good. Get well soon!
  4. Happy Birthday!
  5. Birthday dinner. Mixed greens salad, baked oysters with spinach and hollandaise sauce, King Crab legs. Forgot to get the brownie cake with caramel and chocolate sauce. Just delectable!
  6. Yup, nice offices! Vicki, glad to hear life is coming abut back to normal! CJ, maybe you're afraid Mike will take your Dilaudid? Can't tell if you're serious, but I'm not big on dream interpretation, especially in detail. Sure, you can probably get a general sense of what's on your mind, and that can lead to a good discussion; but to say this represents this, and that represents that ... I think that's just guesswork. I'd say the Dilaudid gave you some freaky dreams! But just for fun, how about ... the lion is your future ... med school, wife/kids ... presented to you by tyrion. Eh, probably not ...
  7. I kinda like that! Now ECP brotha, too! Just buy two of anything you buy, it'll save everyone a lot if time. Thanks, bro'!
  8. x2. Bar Mitzvah parties are the best! Although keeping those yarmulkas on an Asian head is tough. And I just won't use a bobby pin!
  9. Wow, thanks, everyone! You weren't being mean at all, you were being honest! I do hope to see you in ChiTown! I like it! There's fewer and fewer people who can call me that!
  10. I guess I have commitment issues ... if only I knew a good shrink.
  11. Heh ... clarify ... I'd be up for it on ANY day, and will definitely make it if that date allows.
  12. Thanks, all! Creeping closer and closer to the big Five -Oh! Plan is to go to Pappadeaux Restaurant tomorrow for King Crab legs! Can't wait! Pics, please!
  13. Depending on the date, I'd be up for a DOTU Chicago gathering!
  14. Good luck!
  15. Wait, you don't think it'll be convenient to carry your clothes to the laundry room, put all the clothes in, plus the detergent and the softener, but then wait until you walk to the other side of the house before you do the settings and push start? Or maybe while standing in front of the washing machine, in the interest of pissing off your sig-o, you can shout to your sig-o on the other side of the house what settings you want and to start the machine. Or maybe if you're having a really big fight about not sharing in the housework, you can text message the settings to the other person on the other side of the house while you're standing in front of the machine. Thus, the other person can share in the housework by doing the settings and pushing start. Or if you need to get revenge for something, like say your sig-o cheated on you, you can secretly change the gentle cycle to heavy duty cycle in the middle of a load from across the house to ruin the other person's new wool sweater. The possibilities are endless!
  16. Agreed. We all require good sound, but it sure doesn't hurt to look bad ass, too! I believe that the President of Pass Labs, Desmond Herrington, has a background in Industrial Design. He designs the case work for them and I want to say he did some work for Krell before that (could be wrong on that point). Now for sure, Nelson's great circuit design comes first, but having someone in a leadership position who understands having bad ass looks acknowledges its importance.
  17. I like it! Thanks for posting that! ... and boy, that girl has some good teeth!
  18. The difference between going there for work and going there for fun. Plus I doubt Tyll can go incognito like most of us.
  19. Have you tried OpenOffice or google docs? Those freebies have worked ok for me. If she had an old version of Office, you can install the compatibility package for Office. http://www.microsoft...tails.aspx?id=3
  20. Why not a fully organic artichoke? And how do you know which half was organic?
  21. Yup, really impressive and helpful, Mikey! Definitely Mr. Scotch. Probably an honorary doctorate is deserved.
  22. You're right, I didn't love the Peachtree. Too edgy, sibilants a little harsh, a fair amount of listener fatigue ... but maybe the ArĂȘte was too detailed/dry, and therefore a bad match? I was able to exchange it at Crutchfield for an Arcam rDAC, and I like it much more. It's much smoother and more musical, not the last word on detail, but it's pretty enjoyable. I think I can live with it for a while for the price. Though I'll say I'm keeping my eyes open for the next great small sized DAC. I'd like to hear a Lavry, maybe an Apogee, for when the audio budget is not on empty.
  23. Did I neglect to mention that the fibers are made of natural hemp? You can smoke the patch when the palsy is over!
