  1. Thanks, Mike! Congrats to Peter! HPA, that'll be even more than $1000 to fly her to Houston first!
  2. Heh. Well, my back and knees were aching, so I let my daughter sit in for me. Did better than I could have, 2nd in vault, and 8th overall for her age group in the Amateur State meet. But it's a pretty narrow age range. Lots of crazy gymnastics patents. OMG, it's as bad as soccer, but probably not hockey. How was tumbling?
  3. In beautiful Rockford, Illinois for a gymnastics meet. Woot.
  4. Ah, that explains a lot. So far, so good.
  5. That all sounds good, except for the crawfish. That looks great!
  6. Way to go!
  7. Oooh, that. I hear you. I ended up on a lifetime of blood pressure meds around your age. I've been doing cardio and have been trying to eat better forever. But I'm fighting genetics .. at least I'm on the lowest dose possible, plus my Dad was on meds in his 20s. Now, if I can stay off cholesterol meds ..,
  8. Did you piss someone off? And congrats on the job!
  9. Yup, sick kids during trips is the worst. Get better, The Monkeys. Happy trip to you, Shelly!
  10. Worlds collide, indeed! Seems if you can be married and raise kids together, you can probably do ok with this. Right? I've often wondered if I could work in the same office with my wife. She's tried to send me a patient here and there and they've usually not gotten to me. Her patients are all poor and uninsured since she her passion is 'underserved medicine', so she is employed by Cook County Hospital. Although, I suppose it was a psychotic angel that initially brought us together.
  11. Is she an attorney also?
  12. Very cool! Can't wait to hear about it!
  13. We like our Miele.
  14. I'll bet you have a nice selection of power tools. Anyway, you could probably out run him.
  15. Hey, where did you get those pics of Birgir?
  16. Easy for you to do this on the other side of the world. I'd like to see you do this in person the next time Thor is in town. Then I'd be impressed...
  17. Maybe you're thinking of the metal umlaut? Perhaps Colin can enlighten us ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_umlaut
  18. ... And weird dots and lines that go through them
  19. Sounds like fun guys! But ... where's the pics?
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. Roger that. Glad I didn't get the QC3's! But then I read InnerFidelity!
  22. Hmmm. Well, if we have the desire to refi, I guess I'll check out the small guys. Regarding bikes, what makes steel such a better experience? I know nothing about bikes, but a friend who does, says these guys have championed the steel frame, and apparently make fabulous bikes. Similar, it sounds, to the way ARC/CJ championed tubes back when transistors were taking over: http://waterfordbikes.com/w/ Kind of a funny story. It is named after the small town in Wisconsin where my wife grew up. But she had never heard of them ... my biking friend was raving over this company, and was excited to hear she was from this town. My wife insisted there was no such company, she would surely have heard of it in her small town of 3,000! After we researched it, we figured out that it was, indeed in her tiny little town, but small town Wisconsin folk aren't too knowledgeable on high end bicycling.
  23. True, I wore them for hours on that train ride and they felt just great. Kind of crazy that they wouldn't immediately give Tyll a demo pair, though. If there's one thing they're good at, it's marketing. And it was Tyll's word that sold a pair to me. Maybe they're afraid of a mediocre or bad review?
  24. Got it last fall of 2011. We were taking a cross country train trip and had just read your review (or maybe just a comment here?). Agree they sound awfully nice. First Bose product I've really liked. I got my neighbor to buy a pair for his wife, as she travels quite a bit. And convinced a friend they scale nicely, so she needed a Pico DAC Amp.
  25. Comgrats. Will be worth it in the end. But also the reason I didn't want to go through it again, even at record lows.
